Virginia Scott Park '93, '98 MBA
Virginia Park earned an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management in 1998 and a BA in economics from Northwestern University in 1993. Park chose Kellogg to sharpen her business and management acumen and broaden her career options.
After an initial summer internship and short stint in corporate finance at Amoco Corporation, Park joined Jones Lang LaSalle in 1999 where she had worked as a financial analyst prior to attending Kellogg. She worked for Jones Lang LaSalle in a variety of capacities over a total of 15 years and left in mid-2011 to travel and spend time with her family. Prior to her departure, Park was a managing director in Jones Lang LaSalle’s public institutions practice in Washington, D.C. She was a leading contributor to the firm’s government specialty providing strategy, financing, development, leasing, developer selection, negotiating and closing services to public sector clients.
As a part of the leadership team, she was instrumental in developing the government specialty from its inception and growing the business domestically and abroad, providing real estate and financial advisory support to public sector clients. Some of her projects included providing real estate and financial advisory support to the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force to obtain housing on U.S. installations in the Republic of Korea.
She assessed the market feasibility and demand for a new international financial center and leisure district in southern Malaysia, strategically located near the Singapore boarder for a public-private consortium. Once completed, this 1,600 acre mixed-use development will be comprised of 122 million square feet of world-class office, retail, hotel, residential and leisure space.
As National Program Manager for GSA’s National Broker Contract (NBC), she led 30 professionals and directed additional staff and subcontractors performing federal lease acquisition and construction management services for GSA’s leased portfolio across the U.S. and its territories. She oversaw more than 300 leasing transactions, totaling over 6.5 million-square-feet for more than 80 federal agencies.
Park assisted the U.S. Air Force to establish a corporate enhanced use leasing (EUL) program for their underutilized real estate assets. The program is structured to achieve results by targeting low-risk opportunities with high-potential returns and developing a financial and portfolio management infrastructure. She worked with the Air Force Real Property Agency, revising its EUL Handbook to provide a comprehensive source of policies, procedures and templates for use in executing any Air Force EUL project.
Park also assisted in planning and developing Cantera, a 650-acre, mixed-use development near Chicago. A member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI), she has participated on ULI Advisory Panels in the U.S.
