Kellogg team wins Navteq Sustainability Case Challenge

Four members of the Kellogg School Social Impact Club formed the team that won the inaugural Navteq Sustainability Case Challenge, identifying areas that Chicago-based Navteq can use to develop a “triple bottom line” concerned with people, planet and profits.

First-year students Mina Kumar, Ann Goggins Gregory, Yeh-Won Hwang, Joanne Nelson and Amy Stewart developed a social impact philosophy strategy and identified specific initiatives for the company, which provides digital mapping content for applications including MapQuest. The team was one of two from Kellogg that competed with two teams from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business.

“It was intellectually challenging to make people think about the bottom line a little differently,” said Kumar, the newly appointed president of the Social Impact Club. She added that her team may use its $500 prize to travel to the University of Colorado in February to participate in that school’s corporate responsibility competition.
