Kellogg
joins asthma fight
Finalists
in a new case competition sponsored by the Kellogg School
and the CHEST Foundation will help knock the wind out of asthma
in Chicago.
The
contest is a collaboration among The CHEST Foundation and
the Kellogg School's Levy Social Entrepreneurship Lab,
Social Impact
Club, Health
Industry Management Program, and Healthcare
and Biotechnology Club.
On
May 8, graduate students from Northwestern University and
University of Chicago will present new sustainable models
to increase the identification, education, prevention and
treatment of asthma among underserved populations in Chicago.
The city is facing an asthma epidemic, which affects 630,000
children and adults each year. Undiagnosed and untreated asthma
is particularly severe among Chicago's least advantaged communities.
Judging the contest will be several nationally known leaders
in social enterprise and asthma treatment, including former
U.S. Surgeon General Dr. C. Everett Koop.
