Pet peeve
leads to business innovation for '05 alumnus
When
Saq Nadeem '05 was a consultant balancing his career
with the needs of his pets Gucci, Vera and Versace, no ordinary
pet-sitting service would do.
The
frequent traveler found most options inferior, with poor location,
hours and quality. As a Kellogg student, Nadeem turned frustration
into an innovative business catering to time-starved professionals
and their animal pals. Backed by Kellogg faculty, Paradise
for Paws recently opened near Chicago's O'Hare Airport.
Paradise
for Paws is a premium pet resort touting bone-shaped pools
and private suites for dogs and bungalows with private aquarium
views for cats. The resort is open 24 hours to cater to jet-setting
businesspeople.
Nadeem advises entrepreneurs
to follow their passions and tap their networks. "The benefit
that comes with a Kellogg MBA is the network and the resources
available not only through your academic career, but beyond
graduation," he said.
Backers
plan to launch a second P4P near Chicago's Midway Airport
in 2008, with more locations opening across the country later.
