Shalowitz fellowship supports PhD study in health field

Kellogg doctoral students pursuing a health industry-related dissertation now get a new financial shot in the arm, thanks to the Merv Shalowitz Doctoral Fellows program. This program provides assistance to five or six Kellogg students each year whose research focuses on healthcare. "Kellogg has produced several outstanding scholars in the area of health services research and with the Shalowitz fellowships we hope to continue and strengthen this tradition," said David Dranove, the Walter J. McNerney Professor of Health Industry Management. The late Dr. Merv Shalowitz was a pioneer in the Chicago healthcare community, and was the father of Joel Shalowitz, professor of health industry management at Kellogg, who raised funds for the fellowship.
