On Oct.
18, Kellogg Dean Dipak Jain returned to his alma mater, the
University of Texas at Dallas (UTD), to receive the management
school's highest alumni honor: the Distinguished Alumni Award.
Each year, UTD bestows this award on a select few of its graduates
who have gone on to earn a remarkable level of success in
their professional life, or who have contributed significantly
to their community through service.
Dean Jain earned the special recognition from his alma mater
because of his longstanding excellence as an educator, administrator,
and now as leader of the Kellogg School.
In receiving the honor during a dinner ceremony in Dallas,
Jain expressed his sincere appreciation. He also emphasized
the important role that educational institutions play in developing
a person's talent and character. "One can only excel
if the foundations provided to you are great," said Jain.
"I owe a lot to the faculty and staff of UTD for all
their support and guidance."
Jain graduated from UTD in 1986 with a doctorate in marketing;
he earned a master's degree in operations research from the
school the previous year.
