From Montreal
we heard that Jill and Matt O'Toole had a baby
girl on the Fouth of July, Charlotte Lourdes, who was eight
pounds, 21inches. Her brothers, Ryan and Garrett, are enjoying
the land of hockey and speaking more and more French.
This
past winter Jim Glasgow dissolved the AIMS food broker
consulting practice (industry consolidation took its toll)
and started a consulting firm: Executive Abilities, Inc. The
focus of EAI is on improving management performance and results,
which includes working with groups as well as coaching executives
on an individual basis. His first major client is Spherion.
He works with the senior executives of their clients. It is
fun and interesting and allows him to better use his skills
and resources in an area of business that he's passionate
about. Jim's also doing some interesting work with Unext.com's
Cardean University on the development of the faculty and providing
assessment on some course rubrics and process. Cardean is
100 percent Internet-based and derives the content for the
MBA level courses from its academic partners: Stanford, Columbia,
Carnegie-Mellon, University of Chicago and The London School
of Economics. Just to demonstrate his lack of bias, Jim occasionally
teaches in the blackboard environment for Loyola's Executive
Education Program. Linda and Jim added their sixth grandchild
to the roster. His name is Christopher James Harris, and he
and his parents live in the Philadelphia area.
Back
on the job front: Joe Soltykiewicz was promoted to
senior manager at Lucent Technologies with responsibility
for the Switching Systems Supply Network Solutions corporate
center.
Colleen
O'Connor has been promoted to vice president and treasurer
of Duhossois Industries, Inc. Duchossois Industries is a privately
held firm headquartered in Elmhurst, Ill., with interests
in access control devices, home convenience products, rail
transportation equipment, defense products and thoroughbred
horseracing venues.
