EMP-37
Greetings
EMP 37:
Sarah
Wilcox writes that her life has been very hectic for quite
some time: "We adopted a little boy from Vietnam, and finally
on July 3rd were granted permission to fly to HoChiMinh City
to pick him up. Craig and I spent three weeks away from Anna
(our 6-year-old daughter), which was painful, but had one
of the most exhilarating, frustrating and emotional experiences
of our lives. Matthew Stephen Wilcox Kinzer is doing amazingly
well. He's 14 months old, almost walking, and eating everything
-- literally." Sarah also took a new job after consulting
for ChinaOnline, Inc. for the past three years. It's a start-up
media company with online and offline product offerings. As
the name suggests, the companyıs focus is China. You can check
out their news division at www.chinaonline.com. Sarah is the
Chief Business Development Officer, responsible for business
development, marketing, sales and product development.
John
Fevurly writes that they have a new baby boy named Justin
Grant Fevurly. Justin was born July 19, 2000, with a weight
of 8lbs., 13oz., and 21-1/2 inches long. Jana and big brother
Jack are doing great!
After
six years of comfortable life in Chicago, Gary Winer
and his wife Kathleen will be moving to New Jersey in the
spring of 2001. Earlier this year, Garyıs employer, Searle
Pharmaceuticals, completed a merger with Pharmacia & Upjohn
to form Pharmacia Corporation. As a result, all former Searle
commercial operations are being relocated from Chicago to
New Jersey (Pharmacia's new corporate headquarters). Gary
decided to make the move because of the compelling opportunity
offered to him in the new company. Since graduation, he has
been Executive Director of Searle's National Account Sales
team for the U.S. business. After three years in that role,
Gary said he was ready for a change. Garyıs new position is
Vice President, Global Operations for Asia Pacific & Latin
America. In Garyıs words: "This is a wonderful opportunity
for me to gain international experience (without the ex-pat
assignment) through my work with 22 countries. From Brazil
to China to Australia to Peru, I will be applying my Kellogg
skills in multiple areas: strategic planning, global supply,
business development, information management, commercial effectiveness,
and product portfolio optimization to name a few. It will
be quite a challenge, but I can't wait to dive in. I want
to share the good news with my Kellogg colleagues, so many
of whom have already achieved so much since our days in Evanston."
Tim
Stevens writes: "I've left GE Capital 12 years after joining
and approximately 3 years after the EMP check cleared. I am
heading up sales for a Seattle based internet company called
CapitalStream. We are the infrastructure and enabler for Financial
Institutions on the Web. Basically all of the lending/leasing
activity that occurs B2B, we provide the logic and the infrastructure."
Tim is still in Chicago but has a new email address: tims@capitalstream.com.
A short
update from "down under": Dave Semple reports he and
his family continue to enjoy their assignment in Australia.
They have spent recent vacations in Darwin and Uluru in the
Northern Territory. They also attended several events at the
Summer Olympics in Sydney. Dave indicates that the atmosphere
in Sydney during the games was tremendous. Dave's company
is going through a significant reorganization. His new title
is General Manager -- Engineering, EDI Rail. Dave has responsibility
for engineering offices in Maryborough and Brisbane in Queensland
and Sydney, New South Wales. Dave's new work e-mail is: dsemple@edirail.com.au.
That's
it for now. Thanks to all who submitted news on short notice.
Stay in touch!
