EMP-34

Maura O¹Hara is definitely living in the fast lane. She was promoted in August to VP of marketing at Sears and recently became a mother of two with the birth of her second son, Graham O¹Hara Wielgos, on May 17. Both are doing great. Congratulations to Maura and her husband, Robert!

Get out the sunglasses, we have two stars in our midst: Bridgett Prewett, who in early 1999 became director of finance for cultured products at Kraft Foods, and her new baby girl, Sydney Claire Prewett (8 lbs., 6oz and 21 inches long) on Feb. 15. Why the stars you ask? Oprah Winfrey was filming her "Good News" segment at Northwestern Hospital and featured both mother and daughter on national TV! The real good news: Oprah gave all the mothers six hours of free maid service and prepared food for a week. Send a "Congrats" to her new address: BMPrewett@aol.com.

Newsflash: Vicky Shire has joined Burson-Marsteller, one of the largest Communication/Perception Management firms in the world, as managing director for brand management and change communications. Her new work number is 312.596.3588. Congratulations, Vicky, now help the rest of us to get famous!

A hearty "welcome back" is in order for Jim Vaughn who recently returned from living in the U.K. last summer. Jim works for Monsanto who is in the process of merging with Pharmacia. He and his wife, Meg, are now living in Winnetka, Ill., with their two daughters, Jane and Lucy, who are two- and one-years old, respectively. As Jim puts it, "we are officially in baby jail for a few more years, and loving it.²

Our new class representative, Ray Morrison, and his wife Audrey (EMP-32) are the proud parents of Katie, their 16-month old, that was baptized by our very own Father Joe Geders. To capture his own economic rent, Ray is in the start-up world working at Fourth Floor Consulting that specializes in strategy execution. So, Ray, how do we get your fellow EMP-34 grads to send in more news? (Hint, hint).

And lastly, you can tell that healthcare and its relentless focus on efficiency is affecting everything. Just ask Don Patton, our man in Canada, who reports that his new email address has been streamlined from 63 characters to a svelte 21: donald.patton@abbott.com. Give it a spin and say hello to Don.
