Rushed
edition of Kellogg World this time, so didnıt have
time to bug any of you directly, with new job having me hopping
(Iım figuring out when you need wireless video conferencing
on our cell phones). So there you have it, Iıve rationalized
a shortened column. Donıt forget to e-mail me your holiday
letters, or for those of youıve whoıve been hibernating for
a year or so, e-mail me last yearıs letter and Iıll do the
math on figuring your childrenıs ages, free of charge.
Happy
to hear from Peter and Jennifer Boit. Theyıre
praying for sunshine in Redmond, Wash., and have been there
for five years (seem to recall at the five-year reunion they
were on the other end of the continent, down the block from
Bob Wolfe). Four kids: Alexandra (9), Cutter (7), Colin
(5) and McKenna (3). For a year heıs been VP of <\n>e-commerce
at Microsoft. No <\n>big deal, just responsible for sales
and partner strategy for dot-comıs, B2B market places and
VCıs/incubators. In his spare time, he manages a sales and
consulting organization supporting those customers.
Peter
let me know that Ted Baldwin is still at FMC, now living
in Copenhagen. Peter was on campus to check out the ³new building²
(heıs been busy, hey) as the Microsoft executive kicking off
recruiting this year.
Moving
across Information Technology value chain, Dennis Shehan
wrote while on an Air China flight on his way to Beijing.
Heıs now director of marketing for their Cellular Communi-cations
and Computing Group at Intel, growing a business for components
going into cell phones and other devices. Cellular Iıve
heard of that. Recall, Dennis was one of the revelers at Millennium
Madness in Ixtapa.
Annetta
Hewko is now managing director for PepsiCoıs Frito brand
division in Hungary. Annetta writes that after the disintegration
of the Soviet Union she was recruited to build up Pepsi-Colaıs
Ukrainian operation. Among the challenges she faced was harassment
from the Russian underworld who insisted she hire criminals
as security officers for her company. She refused and instead
hired a personal bodyguard. After six months in Kiev, she
moved to her current position in Hungary, which she says is
quite calm by comparison. She may be contacted by e-mail at
annetta.hewko<\@>intl.fritolay.com.
Scott
L. Walker writes that, after much consideration, he decided
to leave the toy business last year and join Egon Zehnder
as an executive search consultant. ³I never would have thought
that headhuntingı would be as challenging, stimulating and
rewarding as I have found it to be,² he says. ³I work with
exceptional colleagues and interact with some of the most
exciting companies and executives in the United States. For
those interested in learning more about executive search,
or who want to discuss career options, give me a call!²
Ron
Keimach has changed companies. He is now senior consultant
at San Francisco-based Watson Wyatt Worldwide. He may be reached
by telephone at 415.733.4176.
We had
a wild wind storm in Chicago early summer and on that day
the same wind pattern in our cul-de-sac that blows everyoneıs
leaves and snow onto our lawn managed to receive enough of
a boost to rip off shingles and siding. It required a complete
overall replacement of roofing and siding <\m> at our insurance
companyıs insistence. With a little of our own paint, nip/tuck
voila, almost like having a new house. Jamieıs really getting
into piano, much better than I was when my parents made me
take lessons at her age. Needs to grow a bit more to play
octaves comfortably. Rosemaryıs having the year from you know
where, part-way through her Masters in Education, coaching
speech, and grading freshman/sophomore English papers. Iım
writing this in October. This is the tough holiday-less stretch
between Columbus Day and Thanksgiving. Looking for fun in
December when weıre off to Tucson for a New Yearıs Wedding
and five days of golf. Talk to you soon.
