J. David Nelson was named board chair of the AARP Foundation earlier this year. As the charitable affiliate of AARP, the foundation works with struggling people older than 50 to help them regain their confidence as providers and members of their communities. Hunger, income, housing and isolation are the four priority areas where immediate action and legal advocacy have the greatest impact.
