School conferences deliver leadership insights across many
disciplines
Here
are a few highlights from the many conferences hosted this
year by the Kellogg School.

Alumni
Entrepreneur Conference: Larry Levy '67, founder
of Levy Restaurants, delivers the keynote address at the inaugural
Kellogg School Alumni Entrepreneur Conference. Levy advised
attendees to remain open to all the opportunities that present
themselves, since it may initially be difficult to discern the
most valuable ones. Levy and other successful entrepreneurs
shared advice on everything from financing a start-up company
to assembling a team of motivated employees during the May 13
event at the James L. Allen Center.

Business Conference: N. R. Narayana Murthy, left,
chairman and chief mentor of Infosys, shares some of his insights
with Kellogg School students at the Kellogg India Business
Conference on May 15. He told conference attendees to remain
aware of the value system and culture that they create for
their companies and said it was imperative to be concerned
about employee satisfaction.

Corporate
Governance Conference: Claudine Mallone, president
and CEO of Financial and Management Consulting Inc., participates
in a panel discussion during the 13th annual Corporate Governance
Conference, May 3 and 4 at the Kellogg School. Mallone was
one of seven corporate leaders who received Outstanding Directors
Awards from Board Alert, which reports news and strategy related
to boardroom activities. The other award winners were: Barbara
T. Alexander, executive fellow, Joint Center for Housing Studies,
Harvard University; Norman R. Augustine, chairman of the executive
committee, Lockheed Martin; William Bowen, president, The
Andrew W. Mellon Foundation; Dr. Michael Brown, professor
of molecular genetics and internal medicine, and Distinguished
Chair of Biomedical Sciences, University of Texas, Southwestern
Medical Center; Barbara Hackman Franklin, president and CEO,
Barbara Franklin Enterprises; and Robert H. Jenkins, retired
chairman and CEO, Sundstrand Corp.

a keynote speech at the April 24 Asian Business Conference
at the Kellogg School. Cheung, president of Wal-Mart China,
said his firm sees "tremendous opportunities in Asia." |
