The TMP
class of 1997 has been experiencing lots of ch-ch-changes:
David McGranahan and his wife, Leslie, relocated to London
in 2000. Their son Jack was born there on April 24, 2001.
David and Leslie "very much enjoy living in London and
plan on remaining here for a few years."
Ed Keating
is still at Edgar Online in Connecticut, where he is a vice
president of marketing. He and his wife celebrated the birth
of their son, Graham Keating, last March 11.
Andy
Sandquist and his wife, Megan Kelly Sandquist, had their first
child, Callan Andrew Sandquist, on Aug. 18.
Lynne
Haywood started a new job last September as the director of
process improvement for Advocate Health Centers, a medical
group with 20 clinics in Chicago, and she's having fun with
her new job. She also got married to Jeff Skrentny on Sept.
22, in the mountains of Colorado. "We were amazingly
lucky that it was a beautiful sunny and warm day, and that
our family and friends could make the trip in spite of the
terrorist attacks only a week and a half earlier."
John
Reid is also still a principal at DiamondCluster. He marvels,
"Even in this damaged economy, I've been able to hang
on at the firm I joined when I graduated from Kellogg."
His wife Paula gave birth to beautiful twin girls on Sept.
25. Sydney Nicole was born first, followed by her sister,
Courtney Renee. All are doing well in St. Louis, and John
couldn't be prouder. "We've really been blessed."
Heidy
Jameel and her husband Mark Pollasky welcomed the birth of
their first son, Oliver Lear Pollasky, on Oct. 25. "Parenthood
is unbelievable and we're loving every minute of it!"
Heidy continues to balance a full-time career with her new
role as a mom. Heidy made the jump from financial services
to the world of IT back in 2000 when she founded hub information
technology, an IT services company. Heidy and Mark relocated
to Sydney Australia in 1997.
John
Coyle is working as a principal at DiamondCluster. In the
great "Where were you when" story contributions,
John has a winner: "I was consulting
for Enron the last three years and was on the trading floor
when the Dynegy bailout fell through and trading stopped!
Moments later the stock dropped into the spare change range
and then the whole place just stopped working! Papers were
flying, loud music started up, and then later on they rolled
out the kegs. It was an 'end of the world' party." John
and his wife Shannon are still living in Phoenix and their
daughter, Katelina, is now a year old.
Garrick
Nielsen and his wife, Maureen, had a baby boy, Garrick Lee
Nielsen Jr., on Nov. 9. Garrick Jr. joins sister, Elaine (2).
All are doing well.
Elizabeth
Sears got married on Nov. 10 to Douglas Smith. She reports,
"Married life is great!" Liz and Douglas are living
in D.C.
TMP supercouple
Roger Shubert and Elaine Virant are proud to announce the
birth of their daughter, Anita Virant Shubert on Dec. 27.
"We are adjusting to parenthood quite well so far. We
missed Santa by a few days but Anita came in time to ring
in the New Year!" On the work front, Elaine recently
returned to CNA Insurance and Roger continues as a senior
strategist with closerlook, a boutique e-business strategy
and marketing firm.
Paul
Schmerold left SGI at the end of December and just accepted
a new business development manager position at PTC, where
he targets the healthcare and consumer packaged goods verticals.
PTC is a product development and enterprise software company.
Paul and his wife, Amy, also just celebrated their 10th anniversary
and recently enjoyed trips to Africa, Europe and Jamaica.
Gary
Kaufman and his wife became the proud parents of Jacob "Jake"
Forrest Kaufman on December 30; Jake came 9 weeks early. Despite
his relatively small stature, Jake has apparently been born
with an aptitude for football prognostication: Jake would
like everyone to know that he accurately picked the Patriots
in the Super Bowl (his mom's Boston affiliation might have
influenced that). Gary changed jobs in December, joining Sarvega
Inc., as vice president-finance and controller. Sarvega makes
XML switching hardware.
Renée
Tsai Ziegenfus and her husband Todd Ziegenfus '96 had a daughter,
Taylor Ming-Zhu Ziegenfus, on Jan. 3. "Mommy and Daddy
were planning to go to the National Championship Rose Bowl
game that afternoon, but Taylor had other plans and surprised
her parents two weeks early!"
Glenn
Trout and his wife Annie had a baby boy, Owen Cole Trout,
on Feb. 7. "Just one hour after we arrived at Evanston
Hospital. Yikes!" Glenn and Annie already had a daughter,
Eloise. Glenn has the perfect family, even if he's "only
slightly above average."
Jay Mages
and his wife Marilyn proudly announce the birth of Elana Rachel,
born March 19. "She enjoys eating, sleeping, gurgling
and the color purple (go Cats!). Future plans for Elana include
walking, talking and being part of the Kellogg graduating
class of 2030."
Jay Woffington
recently sold Adternity Inc., the advergaming company he founded,
to Bridge Worldwide. After the acquisition, Jay became partner
in the combined firm, one of P&G's largest relationship
marketing agencies. Jay was honored by Advertising Age as
one of the Top 100 marketers of 2001 along with the likes
of Michael Dell.
Vladimir
Resnick has started a new job as an assistant vice president
of business development for Household. Since his last update,
he has moved to a new house in Morton Grove, where the family
life with Sarah (5), Benjamin (3), Julie (2) and Yelena is
"keeping him busy and fulfilled."
Rob Lynch
(robert.lynch@guidant.com) has returned to Chicago to work
for Guidant Corporation, training in Chicago to be an area
account manager in the Cardiac Rhythm Management Division.
Rob will be selling implantable pacemakers and defibrillators
for heart patients. "Prior to this, as many alums can
relate to, I was pursuing the dream of the dot-com boom -
and then bust - in the Bay Area. What a great experience,
but it is good to be back to good ol' Chicago!" Rob and
his wife also had their second child on June 29, 2001. "Big
Benjamin Robert Lynch weighed in at 11 pounds, 4 ounces, and
my wife is still swearing off a third child to this day!"
Tim Moriarty
recently joined the Revere Group, a technology and business
consultancy based in Deerfield, Ill., as a business development
client manager. In his new role at Revere, Tim "will
be helping companies strategically identify and implement
solutions that cut through the hype of the "New Economy"
and actually realize the potential that it offers." Tim
and his wife, Lee, still live in the Palos Heights area, where
they are kept busy with the activities of their children John
(13), Jennifer (11), and Patrick (9), and where Lee is active
as a board member of the Pediatric Oncology Treasure
Chest Foundation. Tim and Lee strongly encourage any other
Kellogg alumni living in the southwest suburbs to contact
them.
And in
the "Things aren't changing, but they're still pretty
great" category Lisa Christian-Mount reports, "Things
are going really well, both work-wise and on the homefront.
Greg (also TMP 97) and I have been married more than three
years now, which is hard to believe. We made it back to South
America last year, which we've been wanting to do since our
GIM class trip. We went to Brazil and Peru, including a week
in the Amazon jungle. It was amazing."
Kim Anderson
and her husband, Tom, celebrated their 10-year wedding anniversary
in May with a trip back to France/England where they
honeymooned. This time, they brought along their 2- and 4-year
olds. "While they weren't as interested in some of the
things we did last time, we had a great time."
