EMP-59

Let it be known that the Class of 2005 has had a busy year thus far. I am excited to tell you of many new future students for the Kellogg pool.

Welcoming baby Andrew Michael Lullo last May 28, was Lynn Lullo (director of financial reporting for Sara Lee Corporation). Baby Andrew joins Mom, Dad and Big Sis and rounds out the Lullo family. Congrats Lynn!

Pete Stoynoff (director of planning at Smurfit Stone Container Corp) welcomed a baby girl on Memorial Day in 2007. He is thrilled to be a new daddy.

Danielle and Steve Winandy brought home their new bundle of joy, Colette, on Jan. 23. Congrats to Steve and his wonderful family.

Tom Malkin and his new wife, Heidi, wasted no time. On Jan. 23 they too greeted a new baby boy, Lexington Reese Malkin. Lexx is a welcome addition to The Malkin world. Congrats, Tom and Heidi.

Mathew Vachaparampil wrote to say that the family has moved to San Diego and that they were going to India on Dec. 30 for the baptism of their son. We will be wishing Mathew well with his new location and the growing family.

Tom Shanahan, director of the National Roofers Association, is now the newest addition to the U.S. Secretary of Labors' committee on safety and health. Tom was appointed in late 2007 and will serve on this committee as a full member. We knew you when, Tom.

I, Katie Bylak, vice president of finance, PepsiAmericas Inc., was a featured speaker for a panel discussion at Northwestern University in December. Additionally, I heard from all of you requesting autographs when I made the Kellogg publication. This was a fun fall for me, as I now run finance for the foodservice division of PepsiAmericas and am in my 14th year of coaching cheerleading and gymnastics for the AHYAA. This year, I was awarded a service award from AHYAA for more than a decade of dedication to the sport.

Troy Vellinga, vice president of continuous improvement and reporting to CIO/SVP enterprise systems at Grainger, writes to tell us this: "After a four-year stint in various leadership roles in customer service, I was asked to move to the corporate level. Our team mission is to work with each function to develop and execute a plan focused on improving customer service and process productivity. It's a new perspective for me because the group not only supports the U.S. branch-based business but also all the international businesses. So far it's pretty challenging and I am really enjoying the work." Great going, Troy. I knew that someone would put Chopra's class to good use and it sounds like you are just the guy to do it.

Lauren Reid, executive vice president of global operations at Munters Corporation, wrote to say that the Coffee Clutch of Group G continues with regular meetings of the team. Tim Barry, Paul Kasulis, Dave Qu, Tom Shanahan, Stan Menezes and Rana Singh are all hanging together. Lots of traveling kept everyone busy in 2007, but they hope to connect with the rest of the gang in 2008.

Micheal Morgan, Michelle Kabele, Bob Rossi, Jeff Gordon and Katie Bylak all hung out for a holiday dinner at Francescas Tavola in December. We had a few hours of non-stop laughter, encouragement and fun.

Jeff Smith of Kraft dropped a note to say that he was heading off to China for the week, still doing routine tours of duty to Bejjing.

Dana Alden, attorney, is on his own now. The Alden Law Group is located in OakBrook and specializes in patent law. We always knew that with a palm like that he would be out on his own someday. Contact him at dalden@aldenlawgroup.com.

Here is news on the latest journey of Bob Rossi, the Rossinator, the Running Man a.k.a. Action Bob: Since graduation, via this publication, you have witnessed Bob running a marathon, going through the birth of his first son, becoming a triathlete and finally an Ironman triathlete. In this issue, we find our friendly hero learning a new skill. Yes, Action Bob has another new hobby. He hit the slopes this year in full Action gear and conquered the art of snowboarding. What will Action Bob do next? Is this kind of like where is the world is Carmen Sandiego? You betcha!

Stay tuned for more Action, more fun and the adventures of Action Bob.
