EMP-52

I hope all is well with everyone. International expansion continues to be the theme for EMP-52.

Richard Yang EMP-52 and his wife, Krystiana, at theKellogg-HKUST 10th anniversary in Hong Kong

George Trapp has moved his family to Hong Kong with Northern Trust Bank to assume the new role of regional manager for securities lending, Asian operations. Northern Trust is well established in the Asia Pacific region with its asset servicing and asset management businesses. George will manage securities lending trading interests in Asia and maintain responsibility for liaising with their largest client and client prospects. He writes, "I am looking forward to the opportunity to help grow our presence in the region. However, my new job responsibilities were clearly eclipsed by my wife, Macaire's, since she had the task of moving our family of seven in less than three months. I am confident she could be a guest speaker at any of the future EMP classes on operations management (Professor Chopra might want to take note). Since we moved on Jan. 2, we had the added pressure of the holidays and New Year's (yes, we did go out on New Year's Eve), so it was a bit crazy around the house, but we managed to make our Hong Kong flight and sleep in our new home the following night. Please look me up when you are in the region or if you want to catch up. Contact me at gbt@ntrs.com."

Alberto Slikta is now settled in Singapore, where he has accepted the role of general manager for Akzo Nobel Surfactants in Asia Pacific. "EMP-52ers visiting Singapore, don't forget to send me a note and we can have a drink together." Contact Alberto by phone at 65.677.38488.

Tim Augustine has opened the Atwell-Hicks' first international office in South Korea. Tim is a principal and vice president of corporate services for the Ann Arbor, Mich.-based land development consulting firm. This new office will support Atwell's U.S. clients that are expanding into Asia and support the firm's expansion into Shanghai. Tim will remain in Atwell's Ann Arbor headquarters.

Richard Yang is doing very well in Hong Kong. He has been busy traveling to Japan, Korea, China, Malaysia, Indonesia, Australia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand and the Maldives.
