Leah
Gale and Daniel Fleming were married Sept. 29, in Evanston,
where they still call home. Daniel works for JPMorgan in their
Chicago office while Leah is running her own interior design
business, TannerGale designs. Daniel and Leah write, "Thanks
to all the people who were able to join us for the big day;
it meant a great deal to us."
Jessie (Tiernan)
Dixon writes: " I am excited to announce that I married
Andy Dixon in May 2007 in Denver. I was fortunate to have
close friends and family in attendance, including some fantastic
Kellogg alums: Christy (Coleman) Donato, Kajal Gupta,
Livia Sun, Alanna Nielsen and Caroline Berman.
We honeymooned in Spain for two weeks and are now settled
into our life in San Francisco."
Shankar Swamy and
wife Sarah welcomed baby girl Solea Lark Swamy on Dec. 3.
Mother and baby are healthy and doing well. Shankar is working
as an analyst for the E&J Gallo Winery in Modesto, Calif.
Brandon
Drew writes: "My wife (Tara) and I welcomed our first
child, Patrick Gregory Drew, into the world on Oct.10. As
if that wasn't enough of a change for us, I've recently changed
jobs and we've relocated from Chicago to Atlanta. I made the
decision to leave ZS Associates and start a job with UCB Pharma,
based out of their U.S. headquarters in Atlanta. The timing
worked out well, as I was able to take close to a month off
to spend with Tara and Patrick before starting work in Atlanta.
Patrick has been growing like crazy. We're excited to be closer
to our families (especially with the little one), but we miss
living in Chicago. "
Alex Liu writes:
"Amanda Liu and I have two big events to share.
On June 10, we welcomed our daughter, Avery Li-Ping Liu, to
the world. She was a little peanut at 6 pounds, 3 ounces.
Then, in September we (finally) tied the knot. It was great
to celebrate with our closest Kellogg friends. Professionally,
Amanda continues to enjoy her role at General Mills marketing
Total Cereal and I'm still quite happy at McKinsey."
Garland
Hill writes: "Jenny and I had our daughter Tate,
July. We are living it up here in Minneapolis and surviving
our second Minnesota winter. Everyone is happy and healthy,
but as you can see from the photo our dog, Lupe, isn't terribly
thrilled about sharing the attention with our new addition."
Claire Perrin
and Eric Boireau are "delighted to announce the birth
of Axel last Sept 21." He is 4 months old now and his
favorite activities are smiling and playing with his hands.
Jamie Lasser and
Seth Lasser '05 write: "We welcomed our son, Kenneth
Joseph, on Nov. 23, a slight interruption to our turkey dinner.
He weighed 7 pounds, 7 ounces, and is doing great. Jamie will
be returning to work at Unilever in brand management. Seth
works at 1-800-flowers.com where he recently launched
a new business, celebrations.com. The new family is
doing well and have enjoyed lots of Kellogg visitors."
Jason
Deeken writes: "Our twin daughters, Emma Johanna
and Anna Margaret, arrived as a Christmas present on Dec.
23. A little early, but not bad by twin standards, and at
5.5 pounds they were the bullies of the NICU. Linda and the
girls were all healthy and at home within 3 weeks, in time
to watch a few Green Bay Packers games ... the fun has begun."
Analiza
Quiroz writes: "I celebrated by facing my fear of
heights and bungee jumping in Tennessee's Smokey Mountains
with my boyfriend, Alex Wolf '05. What better way to celebrate
the big 30 than by leaping off a tower? I also recently published
a book, Balikbayan: A Filipino Homecoming, about my
Fulbright experience in the Philippines. It's about my research
on prostitution and talking with young 'entertainers' about
their life stories. It's also about me learning about my family
roots. All book proceeds are going towards Island Girl Power,
a nonprofit I started in Guam that is focused on building
young girls' self-esteem. I'm now at Colgate in brand management
in NYC."
Bo
Parfet writes: "Bill Bennett and I have started our
own company, Iconic Development LLC (iconicdevelopmentllc.com).
Iconic Development LLC is a privately held real estate investment
and development company headquartered in Evanston. Iconic
is a green real-estate investor and developer whose strategy
is to create investment opportunities in demographically driven,
niche real estate. Examples of our current and future projects
include student housing, senior housing and luxury mixed-use
acquisition, rehab and developments. These opportunities offer
higher risk-adjusted returns.
"Bill
and I are just starting; we have closed two deals already
and have a solid pipeline. We are looking for investors (institutional
and high-net-worth individuals) and would appreciate any help
from the Kellogg family. Please get in touch with us at bo@iconicdevelopmentllc.com
or bill@iconicdevelopmentllc.com if you would like
to explore opportunities."
Sandi Medeiros writes:
"3-2-1 Happy New Year! A group of '06-ers rang in 2008
in Chicago with lots of good food, champagne and a bunch of
new people we didn't bother to include because no one would
recognize them anyway. No word yet on whether Mahendra found
his left sock, but Czarek Jarzabek did get cozy with
the house pet.
Gordon Hilburn sends
an update from Iraq: "Currently serving in Al Anbar as
a Marine Company Commander doing counterinsurgency work."
He included a photo from a mission in which he and his team
cleared some caves.
Ricardo
Balau writes: "We recently had a get-together of the
Class of 2006 Brazilian alumni in Sao Paulo, including some
of those working in the U.S. and Europe. A couple of friends
from Class of 2005 also joined us."
Nick
Underhill writes in on the "Mystery Trip" reunion
– MT (Class of 2006) III: Zimmerman's Revenge. "Picture
it: late September, frustrated with work, in dire need of
vast amounts of sun and sand, and longing for the days where
making your 1 p.m. class was iffy because of hitting up (and
closing) Nevin's the night before. Along to the rescue comes
a good old KAOS reunion. Now, due to births (congrats Jenny
and Garland), marriages (congrats Steve), and a couple of
other slackers (you know who you are), the crew was a little
smaller than the Galapagos. Nevertheless, the trip was attacked
with the gusto we expect from true MT'ers. After managing
to not only keep the destination a surprise until the day
of travel, but also routing just about everyone (from L.A.
to New York, Chicago to Houston) through Charlotte and onto
the same Cancun-bound flight, we enjoyed a four-day rain-fest
in our 'sunny' destination. However, a great time, a few drinks,
some suspect dancing and mounds of guacamole was had by all.
Next trip: skiing in Colorado in March (ask Serena or Agatha
for details). The next reunion (a.k.a. MT IV: The Mystery
Strikes Back) will be later in this year. Wait for details
from Nick and Serena."
Rodrigo
Fernandez Varela writes to let us know that he has uploaded
~15,000 photographs he took of our class during our time at
Kellogg onto a Web site, which he would like to share. Visit
kodakgallery.com/mergerpaparazzi. The password is vcf868vcf.
Mark
Morrison writes: "I am still in Dallas though likely
to move sometime soon to New York City or Chicago. I left
Bain at the end of the year to return to the hotel business.
I am doing contract work with a firm developing a huge mixed-use
project in Vail, Colo. After Bain, I left to go to Brazil
and Argentina for the holidays where I saw Gabriel
Sussman and Marcelo Ebert."
