2003 — Part-Time

Happy 2008. Thanks to those who submitted updates. I am sure there are a lot more newsworthy things going on among our classmates, so please get these to me for future issues.

Rick Pollock was promoted to vice president, centers of excellence for VSI, a software company that provides POS software to McDonald's restaurants globally. In this new role, he runs the global groups that work with the regional McDonald's organizations around the world.

Jana Sterk (previously Gisselquist) married Joel Sterk (MSU grad '95 and MBA from U.C. GSB '01). "We had a fantastic honeymoon on Maui and now reside in the Chicago suburbs," she reports. Last summer, Jana was promoted to global adsorbents sales leader at UOP, a Honeywell company, where she's worked for more than 12 years.

Brian Collie and his wife, Christine, are pleased to announced the birth of their second child, Mercedes Catherine, on Dec. 19. Mom and daughter are doing well.

Kent Smith is working in — get ready — Vietnam. He is director of business development with Millennium Global Solutions Group. He's in charge of new business which includes real estate development, mining, timber harvesting and other investments. His current largest deal is a regional development of 600 sq. km in Ha Long Bay, Vietnam. It is the "jewel of Vietnam" and is in contention for addition to one of the Seven Wonders of the World.

David Mack was recently appointed to the position of general manager for PTI Inegrated Systems, a wholly owned subsidiary of The Chamberlain Group. In his new role, he will be responsible for overseeing all company operations, as well as developing new strategies for future growth.

Peter Booth switched companies last November leaving Kraft Foods and becoming general director of Vinacof Ltd. in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The company buys local raw coffee beans, processes them for shipment, and sells them to countries around the world.

Steve Wooledge has taken a new job as director of product marketing for Aster Data Systems, a Silicon Valley start-up software company focused on data analytics for companies looking to get deep, actionable insights into large volumes of data.

Alex Kent wrapped up 2007, closing over $50 million in real-estate leasing and investment transactions as managing director with Studley Inc. in Palo Alto, which provides strategic planning and transaction management to corporate and investor clients, globally. Alex wrapped up the 2007 Ocean Yacht Racing season as the Main Trimmer on "Cirque," ranked No. 1 in their division. Alex lives in Burlingame, Calif., with his wife, Jamie, and son, Miles.

Marsha Cotner is a senior manager of marketing planning at Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Ltd. Recently she graduated from the first global Takeda Leadership Institute program held globally for a select nominated group of managers. She lives in Palatine, Ill., with her husband and son (3).

John Majerowski has been with Snap-on Inc. in Kenosha, Wis., for the last two years. He is currently director, merchandise products. "It has been a lot of fun for me to lead the team and help drive the improved product portfolio. We spent a lot of time researching the market and traveling the globe in order to get it right."

John 'Jack' Montgomery was born May 18, 2007. The Majerowski Family, John, Amanda, Jack and Roxy have a Sunday tradition of watching the Bears game. Unfortunately 2007 was a rough year for the Bears, but Jack and Roxy had plentyof fun.

Thanks for the updates. As you go through these or other life experiences, keep your classmates up to date by forwarding me your news — babies, weddings, jobs, hobbies or anything else noteworthy.
