Phil Joseph was recently promoted to senior vice president at ProLogis. He is primarily responsible for raising debt capital for the company globally.

Mark Shadle has joined the board of directors of the Alliance for the Great Lakes, the oldest organization of citizens for the Great Lakes in North America.

Tom Burns changed jobs in October, and became the CFO of DST Output, a customer communication company of approximately 3,000 employees that produces over 2 billion (print and electronic) communications annually with operating revenues in excess of $500 million. Tom continues to reside in Leawood, Kan., with wife Patty and their children Michael, Claire, Christopher and Bridget.

Ed Rafacz, an airline pilot and president of Proactive Information Corporation, worked with meteorologist and Newcastle University Aviation lecturer Martin Babakhan to create a series of real-time weather screen savers used as a tool to turn unused computers into electronic billboards displaying real-time information. Without having to search through a number of weather links, this tool continuously updates and displays weather information that is critical to aviation professionals when monitoring conditions that could affect safety. With several versions of the product for a number of cities in the United States, this tool is being used by pilots across America, with a version also being used by the Northwestern University Transportation Center to display traffic information.

As a test, Ed and Martin, with John Dutcher, president of Dutcher Safety & Meteorology Services in Toronto, have developed a sample marine version. For this test, the Critical Marine Information (CMI) Real Time Screen Saver is designed to provide weather information along the route of the upcoming Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race.

Don Gates has been married for 15 years and is living in Louisville, Ky., with his bride Amy and their three children Don III, Abigail and Emily. They are all growing in "wisdom and stature." Since March 2007, Don has been the brand marketing officer for A&W and Long John Silver's and has been with parent company YUM! Brands for three fine years. He says, "Throw boring overboard at Long John Silver's or visit that hometown place, my A&W."

Stacey Klemp and her family are moving back to the U.S. from England after a two-year assignment with Key Equipment Finance. "We will be moving back to Colorado and sunshine. Stacey will continue to work with KEF. Catherine (8) and Alexander (3) have acquired a bit of the British accent and a love of travel. Our most recent family trip was to Morocco — mule rides in the Atlas Mountains, camel rides on the beach in Essaouira and, of course, shopping in the medina of Marrakesh. It will be interesting to see how we adjust to being back in the U.S."

John O'Loughin, Roz Roseboro, Tina Hanzlik and Frank Hanzlik '96 celebrated their birthdays together in Avalon Harbor, Catalina Island.

Allan Caspar has joined Xerox Corporation as a services and solutions executive. "Our family has been transitioning for the last few years," he notes. "Along with the move from Chicago to Springfield Ill., I have been working through changes in my career. For the last year I have been an independent consultant, which was very rewarding but uncertain. At Xerox, I have the opportunity to leverage my experience and expertise over the long term in central Illinois. This is truly a blessing for me and my family."

Matt Breslin and wife Meg welcomed a daughter, Maeve Cathleen, on Sept. 18. "She will be well protectedby her three brothers Jack (10), Danny (8) and Aidan (5). I am a regional manager at Oracle in Chicago, and just celebrated my 11-year anniversary with Oracle."

Preston Elliott and wife Jill welcomed their son Jack Preston Elliott to their family Oct. 8. "Mom, dad and sister Grace (3) are doing well. I was recently promoted to first vice president of wealth management at Smith Barney. I am fortunate to have some very talented people on my team and a clientele that I enjoy very much."

At the start of this year, John P. Strelecky was honored alongside Oprah Winfrey, Tom Peters, Wayne Dyer and Stephen R. Covey as one of the 100 Top Thought Leaders in the fields of leadership and personal development. The honor was in large part due to John's latest book, The Big Five for Life — Leadership's Greatest Secret, which presents its insights in the form of a novel. John felt it was possible and more effective for readers like him to absorb business and leadership techniques when they were part of a compelling story. He will be speaking in the Netherlands and Taiwan this spring and fall, so if you happen to be in those places, drop him a line. He can be reached through bigfiveforlife.com or jstrelecky@whycafe.com.
