3M
supports social enterprise innovation at Kellogg
More
than a year ago, when 3M first learned about the Social
Enterprise at Kellogg (SEEK) Program, the company knew
that the academic initiative fit with the firm's culture.
SEEK is an innovative program that provides strong leadership
tools and concepts to help Kellogg School students succeed
professionally. Upon the recommendation of the company's recruiting
team, the 3M Foundation made a gift to Kellogg to support
teaching and research within the SEEK Program.

Kellogg
development efforts maintain momentum
The 2004-2005
fiscal year saw some significant milestones for
philanthropy at the Kellogg School. Fundraising
from all sources topped $11.6 million, representing
a 54 percent increase over the previous year total.
Reunion fundraising grew by 145 percent, to $1,081,960.
The combined class gifts, from the Full-Time Program,
Executive MBA and The Managers' Program, came
to more than $1 million. Equally important, the
participation rate in the Full-Time and Executive
MBA class gift campaigns achieved rates of 97
percent and 100 percent respectively. Overall,
861 graduating students pledged to "give
back" to Kellogg, even as they begin to repay
their student loans.
To
ensure another landmark year of giving back, the
Kellogg Office of Development and Alumni Relations
has been working with reunion committees from the
classes of 2001, 1996, 1991, 1986, 1981, 1976, 1966
and 1956. These committees are making great strides
in reconnecting with classmates to encourage attendance
at Reunion Weekend May 5-7, as well as participation
in their Reunion class gift campaigns.
Visit
the Reunion
Web site to learn more. Additionally, class
gift committees for the 2006 graduating classes
are already building their legacies for the school.
Kellogg is grateful for the generosity of all
its investors. |

John
Lanning, 3M sales and marketing recruiting and training manager said: "3M
is proud to support the Kellogg School of Management in its
continued development of programs for SEEK. The basis of SEEK
coincides with 3M's core values, and the continuation of that
type of education ensures continued future global leaders
grounded in the principals of sound management."
The
gift funds curriculum development, including the creation
of a core teaching apprenticeship program. Additionally, with
the new 3M Foundation's Post-Doctoral Program, the school
will create a vibrant interdisciplinary research community
within the Center for Business, Government and Society dedicated
to providing rigorous, researched-based foundations for SEEK.
The
Kellogg faculty and administration believe strongly that this
emerging field requires a new research platform, one combining
rigor with relevance, and the school is committed to taking
a leadership role in developing this academic area.
Delighted
in receiving the gift, Professor Daniel
Diermeier, director of the SEEK Program said, "We
are very grateful that the 3M Foundation is supporting our
Social Enterprise initiatives. This generous gift from 3M
allows us to make an important step in realizing this vision."
