Employer-sponsored students
The career journey looks very different for students benefiting from an employer-sponsored MBA. And while you may not think these career services are applicable now, many alumni draw on this knowledge as their careers evolve. Whether you're searching for a new job or not, the CMC can help you define future career goals, teach you new job search skills and sharpen your interviewing techniques. We also offer several workshops about long-term career success to help you consider career changes you might work toward in the future.
Summer before Kellogg
This is the time to set the foundation for your career journey. Once enrolled, you’ll gain access to CMC Launchpad, a curated toolkit and guide to help you reflect on your career goals and understand the most common industries for MBA graduates. Through structured self-assessments, skills development, and industry exploration tools, you’ll arrive on campus ready to focus on your internship search and network with employers.
First year: Explore and prepare
The first year is your opportunity to clarify what matters — and test it out. You'll take advantage of a wide range of career services, including working with your career coach to craft a nimble internship search strategy. You'll also tap into support from Career Peers and alumni mentors for résumé reviews, elevator-pitch prep and mock interviews. Sample workshops include:
- Did You Just Get an Interview? How to Jump Into Interview Prep
- Real-Time Recruiting: Recruiters Tell All
- Making LinkedIn Work for You
You’ll also begin your internship search during this time. On-campus events like Kellogg Networking Nights and employer coffee chats are ways we help you get a head start connecting with employers.
Summer internship
Two-Year Program students get the opportunity to work with a company for a summer — often located around the country — where you'll gain real-world experience, apply what you’ve learned and refine your goals. By working with the CMC, every Two-Year student seeking an internship finds one. In fact, many students perform so well in their internships, they receive full time job offers from the same company.
Second year: Focus your job search, land your offer
Full-time recruiting starts early, with some full-time roles posting as soon as the summer of your internship. Your second year is about being proactive, flexible and prepared, as on-campus interviewing occurs in the fall, and the just-in-time search continues through the spring and summer in many industries. Continue regular check-ins with your coach, practice with Career Peers and tap alumni for targeted insights. Workshops include:
- 2nd Years: Assemble Your Toolkit
- International Second Years: Mastering the Maze
- Success Series: Resilience Through Your Career
