$10 million endowment to establish new Healthcare Leadership Center at Kellogg
A new $10 million endowment has established the Northwestern Medicine Kellogg Healthcare Leadership Center, a collaborative initiative between Northwestern Medicine and the Kellogg School of Management. This generous gift will create an academic hub dedicated to shaping the next generation of healthcare leaders.
A groundbreaking collaboration between Northwestern Medicine and Kellogg, the center will become the preeminent place to educate a cadre of leaders in healthcare through leadership training, experiential teaching, research and innovation.
“As we at Kellogg continue to deepen our commitment to the healthcare space, the Northwestern Medicine Kellogg Healthcare Leadership Center stands as a beacon of collaboration and innovation,” said Kellogg Dean Francesca Cornelli. “By bridging business acumen with healthcare expertise, we are poised to redefine leadership in care delivery. Our dedication to rigorous research, education and strategic partnerships will drive lasting impact, benefiting patients, practitioners and the entire healthcare ecosystem.”
The endowment will establish the center at Kellogg and equip it to train the current and next generation of leaders in this sector. Offerings will include:
- A practicum that will embed MBA candidates within the health system’s daily operations including in clinical settings, where they will gain practical, hands-on experience and lend their expertise in business operations and strategy
- Leadership training that will allow Kellogg to educate and develop future decision-makers in healthcare
- Research and innovation that will advance healthcare and inform the leadership and education components of the center, creating a virtuous cycle energized by shared knowledge and collaboration
“The goal for the Northwestern Medicine Kellogg Healthcare Leadership Center is to empower future healthcare leaders and prepare them for transformational change in how we plan for and deliver patient care into the next decade and beyond,” said Howard Chrisman, MD, president and chief executive officer, Northwestern Memorial HealthCare. “We believe this center will have a positive impact on future leaders that goes beyond the clinical setting and will have a lasting impact on the communities we serve.”
The healthcare sector, representing $4.3 trillion and 17.1% of the U.S. economy, profoundly impacts businesses nationwide. Amid seismic shifts, large healthcare systems face a critical juncture as they compete with new entrants while pursuing the next frontiers in patient care and cutting-edge science.
