George Anderson leads Spencer Stuart’s Board Effectiveness services in North America. He advises clients whose boards are undergoing transitions in governance, composition and leadership.

George has been named repeatedly to the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) Directorship 100, which recognizes the most influential leaders in the boardroom community and, previously, was named one of 10 global “Rising Stars of Corporate Governance” by the Millstein Center at the Yale School of Management. He has spoken at events hosted by the American Bar Association, Corporate Board Member/NYSE Governance Services, NACD, Outstanding Directors Exchange (ODX) and others. He has authored numerous articles on board matters for publications including Harvard Business Review and has been quoted on governance and leadership matters in media such as The Wall Street Journal.

George also convenes directors to support their development. He has created and led multiple director networks, including Spencer Stuart’s New Director Program and groups of audit committee chairs, compensation committee chairs and lead independent directors.

Before joining Spencer Stuart, George was a partner at Tapestry Networks. Previously he was a principal at Toffler Associates, a senior consultant at Accenture and a corps member in Teach For America. George holds an M.Ed. in human development and psychology from Harvard University and a B.A. in philosophy from Haverford College. He serves on several nonprofit boards and is a trustee, appointed by the Governor, of MassTech, a public economic development authority in Massachusetts.

Roxanne Austin is the president and CEO of Austin Investment Advisors, a private investment and consulting firm focused on IP-based video and mixed-media technologies. Austin also serves on the board of Ericsson, Target Corp., Abbott Laboratories, AbbVie and Teledyne Technologies.

Previously, Austin was president and CEO of Move Networks, an IP-based television-delivery company. She also served as president and chief financial officer of DIRECTV, the world’s leading provider of digital television entertainment services.

Prior to joining DIRECTV, Austin was executive vice president and chief financial officer of Hughes Electronics Corp. (then parent of DIRECTV). Before joining Hughes, she was a partner at Deloitte & Touche, where she was a firm-designated expert in mergers and acquisitions, aerospace and defense.

Sally Blount was named dean of the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University in 2010. An internationally recognized thought leader in management, negotiation and behavioral decision-making, Blount brings more than 25 years of experience in business education.

Since taking the helm at Kellogg, Blount launched a bold seven-year plan for the school that focuses on strengthening the school’s innovative degree portfolio, investing in path-breaking thought leadership, deepening global connectivity, and leveraging Kellogg’s distinctive culture and brand.

Blount has made significant progress in advancing the plan, setting repeated fundraising records with the school’s $350 million Transforming Together campaign, constructing a 410,000-square-foot lakefront global education center scheduled to open in early 2017, and expanding Kellogg’s premier Executive MBA Global Network.

Blount speaks regularly on the role of business as the most powerful social institution of our era, as well as expanding opportunities for women in business, including recent engagements at the Aspen Ideas Fest and the White House. She is also a regular contributor to Fortune, among other national business publications.

Blount is a director at Abbott Laboratories and serves on numerous global advisory boards, including Aspen Institute’s Business and Society Program, Indian School of Business, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology Business School, and Fundacao Dom Cabral in Brazil. She was also the co-chair for the World Economic Forum on Latin America in 2012.

Douglas Conant is a New York Times bestselling author and keynote speaker with over 40 years of leadership experience at world-class global companies. In 2011, he founded ConantLeadership — a mission-driven community of leaders and learners who are championing leadership that works in the 21st century. From 2001 to 2011, Doug served as CEO and president of the Campbell Soup Company. During his tenure, he reversed a steep decline in market value, dramatically re-energized a low-engagement culture, and delivered cumulative shareholder returns in the top tier of the global food industry. Prior to joining Campbell he served as president of Nabisco Foods Company. Doug currently serves as chairman of the Kellogg Executive Leadership Institute at Northwestern University as chairman of CECP, and as a member of the board of directors of AmerisourceBergen.

Doug is the co-author with Mette Norgaard of The New York Times bestseller Touchpoints: Creating Powerful Leadership Connections in the Smallest of Moments and is in the early stages of writing a second book, intended to be the definitive resource for engaging employees in the 21st century.

He was named a Top Thought Leader in Trust for 2014, 2015, and 2016, a Top 100 Leadership Speaker by Inc. Magazine, a Top 30 Leadership Professional for 2015 by Global Gurus, a Leader to Watch in 2015 by the American Management Association (AMA), a Top 50 Leadership Innovator Changing How We Lead in 2015 by Inc.com, and a Top 75 Human Business Champion by Switch & Shift.

Doug earned his B.A. from Northwestern University and his MBA from the J.L. Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.

Kevin Connelly has been chief executive officer of Spencer Stuart since his May 2012 election by the firm’s partners. Previously, he served as chairman of the firm for six years. Kevin is a seasoned search professional and, in addition to his firm leadership responsibilities, he consults regularly with clients on executive leadership succession and board projects.

As CEO, Kevin has focused Spencer Stuart on delivering differentially better outcomes, measured in terms of leadership performance, cultural fit and durability of the executives selected, relying on the firm’s advice. During his tenure, the firm has invested in and improved its capabilities to consistently deliver better outcomes for clients and for candidates.

Before joining Spencer Stuart, Kevin worked as chief financial officer and later as chief operating officer and a member of the board of directors for a supplier to the world’s leading automobile manufacturers. He began his career in the financial services industry, where he held various leadership positions.

Kevin is a member of the steering committee of the Corporate Governance Conference hosted annually by the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and co-sponsored by Spencer Stuart. This long-running event gathers hundreds of top board directors each year to debate and discuss evolving governance issues.

He serves on the board of the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago and the international advisory board of Fundação Dom Cabral, Brazil. He is a member of The Economic Club of Chicago and The Commercial Club of Chicago.

Kevin earned an MBA from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business and received a B.A. from Marquette University.

Robert A. Eckert is a toy- and food-industry veteran with more than 35 years of experience and leadership in the highest ranks of business.

Mr. Eckert is an Operating Partner of Friedman Fleischer & Lowe, LLC, a San Francisco-based private equity firm. He serves on the Board of Directors of McDonald’s Corporation, Levi Strauss & Co., Amgen, Inc. and Eyemart Express Holdings, LLC. Mr. Eckert is a member of the Eller College National Board of Advisors at the University of Arizona, the J. L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management Global Advisory Board at Northwestern University and the Board of Governors at Pardee Rand Graduate School. He also is a director of the Pacific Council on International Policy and a trustee of the Haynes Foundation.

Mr. Eckert is chairman emeritus of the board of Mattel Inc., a worldwide leader in the design, manufacturing and marketing of toys, with more than $6 billion in annual sales. He was Mattel’s chairman and CEO from May 2000 through December 2011. He remained as chairman through 2012.

A 23-year veteran of Kraft Foods Inc., Mr. Eckert served as Kraft’s president and CEO from 1997 to 2000. Previously, he was president of Oscar Mayer Foods.

Mr. Eckert received the School of American Ballet’s Corporate Leadership Award and Eller College’s Lifetime Achievement Award. In 2002, BusinessWeek named him in its cover story, “The Top 25 Managers of the Year.” He has received honorary doctorates from the University of Rochester, Pepperdine University and University of Arizona.

Mr. Eckert has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Arizona and an MBA in marketing and finance from Northwestern University.

William “Will” Garrett is the associate dean for Executive Education at the Kellogg School of Management. In his role, Garrett oversees all of Kellogg’s non-degree programs. He leads the school’s efforts around Executive Education strategic direction, curriculum development, participant/client outreach and support, faculty involvement and program operations.

In addition to his role as associate dean, Garrett is a clinical assistant professor of management at Kellogg. He is responsible for the academic direction of several custom client programs and also teaches on subjects related to growth.

Prior to Kellogg, Garrett worked in McKinsey & Company’s Chicago office for 17 years as a partner, advising the leadership of major global corporations in strategy, growth and change management. He also spent three years as director of global operations for McKinsey’s Strategy Practice.

Garrett also served as an executive at General Electric Railcar Services. At GE Railcar, he was the executive vice president of marketing, portfolio management and business development.

Garrett holds a Bachelor of Science from Northwestern University and a Masters in Management from Kellogg.

Kelly Grier was named Vice Chair, Central Region Managing Partner of Ernst & Young LLP (EY) in June of 2015. Grier is responsible for supporting EY’s momentum in the market, attracting and retaining top talent, and providing exceptional client service for a regional practice of more than 8,000 professionals across 15 states. She also serves as senior advisory partner for several of EY’s largest clients in the firm’s Central Region.

Grier is a member of the EY Americas Executive Board and the U.S. Executive Board and is a member of the Global Practice Group and Global Talent Executive. She has 24 years of experience serving primarily Fortune 500 global companies and has extensive international experience.

Prior to June, Grier was the Americas Vice Chair – Talent of EY. In this role, Grier focused on creating an exceptional EY experience for the organization’s 62,000 people in the Americas. She leveraged her understanding of the issues facing EY’s client-serving and professional teams across every aspect of the firm’s business, developed strategies that supported EY’s momentum in the market, attracted top talent, and increased the engagement and retention of its people.

Previously managing partner of the Chicago office, Grier also served as coordinating partner for several SEC registrant clients and senior advisory partner to some of EY’s largest Chicago-based clients. Grier has been an elected member of the firm’s Americas Advisory Council and the Global Advisory Council. She also spent more than four years in EY’s Zurich, Switzerland, office as coordinating partner of a Fortune 50 company, overseeing the audit engagements in the Europe, Middle East and Africa region.

She was selected as a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader in 2010, recognized as a “Woman of Achievement” by the Anti-Defamation League and as a “2007 Woman to Watch, Experienced Leader” by the Illinois CPA Society.

Grier serves as a member on the U.S. Dept. of Commerce’s National Advisory Council on Innovation and Entrepreneurship. She has extensive civic board experience, serving as trustee

of the Ravinia Festival Board of Directors and Skills for Chicago’s Future.

Jeanne P. Jackson has been president of Product and Merchandising at Nike Inc. since July 2013. For the prior 4 years, she served as president of Nike’s Direct to Consumer business, stepping into that role after serving on the Nike board of directors for eight years.

Prior to her Nike involvement, Ms. Jackson was CEO of a private equity and consulting firm that she founded in 2000, MSP Capital. She has been a member of the board of directors of McDonalds, Inc. since 1999, where she currently serves as a board member, chair of the finance committee, and member of the governance committee. She has also served on the boards of Nordstrom, Inc., Nike, Inc., Harrah’s Inc., Williams-Sonoma, Inc., CRS Inc., and West Marine, Inc.

Ms. Jackson’s career prior to founding MSP includes roles at some of the world’s most iconic brands. She was chief executive officer and president of Wal-Mart.com, president and chief executive officer of Banana Republic, (part of Gap, Inc.), and president and chief executive officer for Gap Inc. Direct. Ms. Jackson’s career includes various retail and brand management positions with Victoria’s Secret, The Walt Disney Company, Saks Fifth Avenue and Federated Department Stores.

Ms. Jackson has served on the board of advisors of the Harvard Graduate School of Business, and as a past president of the United States Ski and Snowboard Foundation board of trustees.Ms. Jackson is married, with two grown children, and currently resides in Henderson, Nevada.

Richard H. “Rick” Lenny serves as non-executive director of Information Resources Inc., a leading market research firm. He is also a senior advisor with Friedman Fleischer & Lowe LLC, a private equity firm.

From 2001 through 2007, Lenny served as chairman, president and CEO of The Hershey Co. Before joining Hershey, he was president of the Nabisco Biscuit Co. from 1998 to 2000 and president of Pillsbury North America from 1995 to 1998. Previously, he spent 18 years at Kraft Foods Inc., where he held a number of senior marketing and sales positions.

Lenny serves on the boards of McDonald’s Corp., Discover Financial Services, ConAgra Foods Inc., and ITW. Previously, he served on the board of directors of Sunoco Inc. from 2002 to 2006. From 2005 to 2007, he was board chairman at the Grocery Manufacturers Association and chaired its executive committee. He received GMA’s Hall of Achievement award in 2008.

He is a member of the Dean’s Global Advisory Board of Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management. He is a member of the board of trustees of Junior Achievement-Chicago, the Ravinia Festival in Highland Park, IL; Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital in Lake Forest, IL; and life trustee of the Museum of Science and Industry-Chicago.

Lenny graduated with honors from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management with an MBA in marketing and finance. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing, magna cum laude, from Georgia State University in Atlanta.

Anne Mulcahy was most recently chairman of Xerox Corporation. She stepped down from this role and from the Xerox board in 2010. From 2001 through 2009, she was also the corporation’s CEO. She retired from the CEO post in 2009 and retained the position of chairman. Before serving as CEO, Ms. Mulcahy was president and COO of Xerox from 2000 to 2001. She also served as president of Xerox’s general markets operations, which created and sold products for reseller, dealer and retail channels. Ms. Mulcahy began her Xerox career as a field sales representative in 1976 and assumed increasingly responsible sales and senior management positions. She became chief staff officer in 1997 and corporate senior vice president in 1998. Earlier she was vice president and staff officer for customer operations. She currently serves as a director of Johnson & Johnson, Target Corporation, Graham Holdings Company, LPL Financial and chair of the board of trustees for Save the Children.

Novich is the retired chairman, president and CEO of Ryerson. Prior to its sale to private equity in October of 2007, Ryerson was a Fortune 500 company with sales of $6 billion and was one of the largest global metals fabricators, processors and distributors with operations in North America and joint ventures in Mexico, India and China. It had over 100 locations and 60,000 customers.

Novich joined the company in 1994 as chief operating officer. In 1996 he took Ryerson public and became its president and CEO. In 1999 he was also named chairman. Novich remained chairman and CEO until the sale of the company.

Prior to joining Ryerson, Novich was a partner with Bain & Co., an international management consulting firm serving the health care, consumer goods, retailing, manufacturing, banking, distribution and high-tech/telecom industries.

He has also been a software and mechanical engineer and worked in the insurance and defense industries. He has a degree in physics from Harvard University and master’s degrees in nuclear engineering and in management from MIT.

Novich currently serves on the boards of W.W. Grainger, Inc. (audit committee, prior compensation chair), Analog Devices (compensation chair), Hillenbrand (compensation chair) and Beacon Roofing Supply (audit chair). He is also a trustee of the Field Museum of Natural History and advises a variety of startup companies in Chicago. In 2015 he was named one of NACD’s Directorship 100, the Most Influential Leaders in Boardrooms and in Corporate Governance.

Gary Retelny is president and CEO of Institutional Shareholder Services, Inc. (ISS). He is responsible for the overall management and leadership of the business, which includes more than 900 employees across 17 offices in 12 countries. He works with all key ISS functions globally to continue to expand the company’s current range of governance and SRI solutions and to ensure the quality of its research and reliability of its proxy-voting platform.

In setting the organization’s strategic direction, Gary is responsible for identifying and managing both organic and inorganic growth opportunities stemming from new product offerings, expanded data sets, expansion in international markets, and the development of strategic partnerships globally.

Gary received a B.S. and M.S. in civil engineering from Stanford University as well as an MBA from Stanford Business School.

Irene Rosenfeld is chairman and CEO of Mondelēz International, the global snacking powerhouse launched following her decision to spin-off of the company’s North American grocery operations in October 2012. Creating delicious moments of joy in 165 countries, Mondelēz International (NASDAQ: MDLZ), with 2015 net revenue of approximately $30 billion, is a world leader in biscuits, chocolate, gum, candy and powdered beverages, with billion-dollar brands such as Oreo, LU and Nabisco biscuits; Cadbury, Cadbury Dairy Milk and Milka chocolate; and Trident gum.

Since returning to Kraft Foods, the predecessor to Mondelēz International, in June 2006 as CEO and then chairman in March 2007, Irene has changed the face, footprint and prospects of the company by reinvigorating iconic brands, transforming the portfolio into high-growth snacks categories, strengthening the company’s presence in emerging markets and aggressively improving margins.

The Financial Times, Fortune and Forbes have repeatedly ranked Irene on their lists of the “Top 50 Women in Global Business,” “50 Most Powerful Women in Business” and as one of the world’s “100 Most Powerful Women.”

Irene holds a Ph.D. in Marketing and Statistics, an M.S. in Business Administration and a B.A. in Psychology -— all from Cornell University. She is active in a number of industry and community organizations, including The Economic Club of Chicago, the Board of the Consumer Goods Forum and The Business Council.

Dr. Tom Saporito is chairman and CEO of RHR International. He oversees a global firm with an international workforce and network of offices throughout the United States, Canada, Europe and Asia. For over 70 years, RHR has been the premier firm of management psychologists specializing in board and top management leadership.

Tom’s consulting experience, over the past 30 years, involves more than 100 companies, serving as advisor and confidante to boards and CEOs in the areas of Board Effectiveness, CEO Succession, and Board/CEO relationship. His work generally focuses on companies in the midst of significant shifts in strategy and culture.

A widely recognized expert in CEO Succession, Tom is frequently quoted in the Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Chief Executive magazine and Corporate Board. His most recent publication is the book “Inside CEO Succession” (Wiley, 2013).

Tom received his doctorate in psychology from the University at Albany in 1976. He currently sits on the boards of RHR International, Mobley Group Pacific, Northwestern Human Services, and Bayada Health Care. He was also a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors’ Blue Ribbon Commission on CEO Succession.

Myron T. Steele is a partner at the Delaware law firm Potter Anderson & Corroon and the recently retired Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Delaware. Previously, he served as a vice chancellor of the Delaware Court of Chancery. He has presided over major corporate litigation, LLC and limited partner governance disputes and writes frequently on issues of corporate document interpretation and corporate governance. Steele has published more than 300 opinions resolving disputes among members of limited liability companies, limited partnerships, and between shareholders and management of both publicly traded and close corporations.

Steele serves as adjunct professor of law at the University of Pennsylvania Law School, University of Virginia Law School and Pepperdine University Law School.

Steele is a governance fellow and has been named to The National Associate of Corporate Directors (NACD) 2014 Hall of Fame and continues to be listed on the annual NACD Directorship 100 most influential people in corporate governance in the United States. Steele was also the recipient of the Citadel School of Business Hall of Fame in 2015. Ethisphere Magazine ranked Steele second in its list of the 100 Most Influential People in Business Ethics for 2007. Lawdragon magazine has consistently placed Steele among its annual Lawdragon 500 Leading Lawyers in America and Top Judges in America.

Steele is one of fourteen founding trustees for the American College of Corporate Governance Counsel (equivalent to the American College of Trial Attorneys) with only 50 attorneys, academics and judges elected to membership nationwide.

In October 2012, the U.S. Chamber Institute for Legal Reform honored Steele with the Judicial Leadership Achievement Award.

Steele earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia, his J.D. and LL.M. from University of Virginia School of Law, LL.M.; and his Hon. D. L.D. from the University of Delaware.

Jeffrey W. Ubben is a founder, chief executive officer and chief investment officer of ValueAct Capital. Mr. Ubben is a director of Twenty-First Century Fox, Inc. and Willis Group Holdings plc, a former chairman and director of Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, Inc., and a former director of Catalina Marketing Corp., Gartner Group, Inc., Mentor Corporation, Misys plc, Sara Lee Corp., Valeant Pharmaceuticals International and several other public and private companies. In addition, Mr. Ubben serves as chairman of the national board of the Posse Foundation, is on the board of trustees of Duke University, and is also on the board of trustees of Northwestern University. He has a B.A. from Duke University and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
