Kellogg and NU alumni gathered Aug. 22 at the Lift Lounge in Dallas for the annual Summer Soiree. About 75 people swarmed the casino tables and the silent auction tables, rubbing elbows with fellow alumni as they raised money for Big Brothers Big Sisters of North Texas. Dozens of auction items collected by the auction committee translated into $4,500 for the worthwhile one-to-one mentoring organization, the largest BBBS agency in the country, which served over 9,000 children in 2008. The Kellogg Club DFW has begun a partnership with BBBS that will continue throughout the year, as BBBS representatives attend Kellogg Club events to publicize the merits of the BBBS program. In gratitude, BBBS will make their Irving headquarters available to the Kellogg Club DFW as a venue for events. The club's president-elect, Sean Lofgren '01, looks forward to raising even more money at next year's soiree. |
