EMP-60
Greetings from New Orleans! My family is doing well and is happy to welcome a much busier (hopefully) and cooler fall season in the city. It is a great time to visit the Big Easy, so let me know if you have any need for a weekend getaway. We would love to host some fellow EMP-60ers. Make sure you e-mail me with any updates or changes, and particularly new e-mails.
Tom and Traci Himmel moved to beautiful North Carolina. Definitely look them up if you are ever in the Raleigh-Durham area.
This July, Stu and Katheryn Abelson added to their growing family with the birth of baby Sam. Just like his big sis Audrey, he is absolutely adorable. This spring, we were supposed to catch up in person during a medical conference in New Orleans, but some last-minute change of plans stopped us. Hoping the four of them get a chance to visit again.
Ron Keating is doing well, and working with Mike Rafi. He had a great summer of fun at his lake house and is excited about his son Ronny, who entered the sixth grade.
Ron Harris wrote that he had a great visit this summer to Beau and Suzy Brauer's new house in St. Louis. He mentioned that they have a beautiful new addition to their family with the arrival of their daughter Camilla.
Vance Strader checked in and shared the following: "Kathy and I just sent the third of our seven kids off to college. It's tough to see them go, but great to see them growing up (the house is going to be really clean and quiet in another five years!). My latest role includes starting up and running Harley's value engineering group, quite timely given today's economic conditions. I have new challenges and opportunities every day. It was nice to stop by and see Dave and Dana Krauskopf and their two little ones last time I was in D.C. Would love to see more EMP'ers."
Roy Rumbough is doing really well and enjoying family life in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. I look forward to having dinner with him the next time I am in town.
Tom Marry has really had an exciting ride since graduation. Here are his adventures detailed out: "My bride and I spent almost two years in Shanghai before moving back home at the end of May. Life in Shanghai was absolutely fascinating. A great city to live in, provided you do not get run over by a car or bus. Most of our time was spent with work. Teri spent lots of time down in Hong Kong with her job, but we managed to shift her employment up north to Shanghai for the last portion of the assignment. We did have opportunities to spend ample time in Hong Kong and Beijing and discover all kinds of interesting places in and around Shanghai.
"From my side, I continue to be responsible for the company's Asia region. However, coordination now takes place out of the home office in Racine. That means continuous travel to India, China, Korea, and Japan, but I have no complaints. I'm very happy to continue working at Modine. We moved back into the farm when we returned. It is quite the peaceful sanctuary after the madhouse that is Shanghai. Family is doing well. Oldest out of college, middle one halfway through, and baby girl is now a freshman in high school. Hard to fathom. Look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at the five-year reunion!"
Speaking of our Reunion: Don Hammond, Roy Rumbough, Stu Abelson and I are on the Reunion committee, so we will be calling, e-mailing and harassing you soon to come back to Evanston to celebrate our five years! Remember, I have lots of incriminating photos for those who do not attend, particularly you SKULLS. We need someone to create a Facebook page, so if anyone is good at that, then have at it and let us know. It would be great to get all EMP-60ers on Facebook to create better and more seamless communications. |
