EMP-38

We are falling off the EMP wagon …. Perhaps 10 years is the turning point. Perhaps folks are just busy. But I do have a few things to share.

In July, having tried planning events long in advance, I decided to pick a night and invite our classmates and spouses for a drink without a lot of notice. Obviously, the folks from out of town politely declined and many folks were on vacation. It was after all July. We had a small but enjoyable group that included Larry and Juanita Brand, Tom and Renee Schwingbeck and Mike and Julie Shelton. We had a nice night of conversation and no one got food poisoning. I call that a stellar night.

Betsy Finkelmeier, Cindy Vanina, Susan Amato and I all got together for dinner. We were fortunate to be able to have a picnic dinner on the terrace of Betsy's building overlooking Lake Michigan. They are all looking and doing great.

In September, Jim Pogue was in town and a few of the PIGS met for a drink. Pictures of grandchildren and children were exchanged. Ed Phillippi is still consulting. Kathy Madison continues her work at Household and Jim Pogue is at Guardian.

Ian Heller and Andy Martin have been working on a few things together. Their companies, Al Dente Marketing and Real Results Marketing, were picked up by the American Marketing Association newsletter in July for their survey on marketing in a recession.

The MS Ride encountered a little rain this year. By the 7 a.m. Saturday start, there was a deluge of rain. The Mike's Bikes Team caught shelter inside the facilities at NIU and Mike Shelton hung out with the troops and shared a smile.
