2002 — Part-Time

Greetings TMP 2002. I hope this update finds you well — surviving the slings and arrows of this outrageous market. I have a fair amount to report but would love to hear from lots more of you, so please get over your humility and fear of seeing your name in print and drop me a line. With that said, here we go:

Tarcisio Ribeiro was promoted to VP and general manager for Europe, Middle East & Africa for Tellabs. He and wife Katya are relocating to London and would love to hear from you if your travels take you to the U.K. Congrats, Tacisio.

Chris Clark reports: "Fairly eventful couple months for me. I started my own management and strategy consulting firm in the spring, which turned into a full-time job offer from one of my clients. My new role is senior vice president, insulation products and MRO for TIGHITCO Inc. (aerospace manufacturing)."

Congratulations go out to Arthur Alvarez and his wife Sandy who are first-time parents to a healthy baby boy. Jacob Edward Alvarez was born Sept. 2.

Ron Papcun was promoted to vice president of operations with Falken Tire Corporation, a subsidiary of a Sumitomo Corporation. Ron has been with the company since 2002 and is responsible for supply chain, customer service, logistics, warehousing and distribution. Falken is a sales and marketing company for aftermarket high-performance and large-diameter SUV tires. Ron lives in southern California with daughter Kiara (11). Congrats Ron.

Arek Jaszcz and his family moved to Switzerland in January. Arek is working at Baxter Healthcare as director of strategic projects. The family is enjoying Switzerland and traveling around Europe.

Grace Chang also reports a new addition to the family. Naomi Lauryn Kang was born June 26. Grace and husband Tony moved back to Chicago from San Francisco and she is with the IDEX Corporation as the director of finance.

Kenneth Mathieu is a CPA and a managing director with FTI Consulting's forensic and litigation practice, where he specializes in expert witness testimony and damage analysis as well as conducting complex forensic accounting investigations. He is also a member of the AICPA's forensic and litigation committee and the chair of the Web seminar task force. Kenneth moved to Downers Grove and has two wonderful boys, Weston (3) and Eli (1).

Rupesh Santoshi and his family relocated to the Twin Cities this summer so that he could lead the local transfer pricing practice of Ernst & Young. Rupesh has found a few fellow Kellogg alums in his new office who have helped him find some great local restaurants and miss Chicago a lot less.

David Hedlund, his wife Julie and daughters Jessica and Megan relocated to Green Oaks, Ill., after David accepted a position as the director of transportation for ACCO Brands in Lincolnshire, Ill.

For the last two years, Peggy Ryan Spencer has been working as a portfolio manager at Beacon Capital Management in Tortola, British Virgin Islands. Peggy, speaking for all of us in Chicago this winter, we are very jealous.

A note from Young Hong: "I cannot believe it's been over six years. It feels like yesterday when I graduated. But I guess if you think about it, a lot of changes have happened. We have two new additions to the Hong family (Caitlin and Chloe) and I am working for myself (Zebra Angel SaaS Consulting) finally."

Deree (Little) Kobets reports on her "growing" family and business: "I own a boutique called 'grow.' grow (grow-kids.com) is a modern boutique specializing in organic and healthy products, clothing, gear and furniture for babies and children. The grow boutique opened in Chicago's East Village neighborhood in 2006 as the city's first healthy baby lifestyle store. My husband Kevin and I have two children, Mayle (6) and Skye (3)."

Kelly Rourke Golden, husband Michael and daughters Grace (3) and Caroline (2) are proud to report the birth of the newest Golden, son George. Kelly lives and works in Winnetka, Ill., where she is the owner of "neapolitan," a women's and men's designer boutique in Winnetka.

Gopal Kasichainula writes: "After spending five years in information systems, I have been rotated into the world of product delivery. The new position takes me to Waterloo, Iowa, where our flagship Tractor works are located. I'm going to be responsible for a line of tractors there. The work we are involved in brings global workgroups together. My job will be to lead flawless execution of the plan to bring the product to market. My wife Radhika and daughters Uma (6) and Vidya (3) are excited about making a new beginning in Cedar Falls, Iowa, home of the other violet team — the University of Northern Iowa."

After 15 years with Motorola and 1.5 years with United Airlines, Jennes Zhang moved back to Shenzhen, China, in August. Now Jennes is a member of the board of directors, the deputy general manager and vice president of sales at Shenzhen Mele Digital Technology Ltd. Shenzhen Mele is a top R&D and manufacturer of multimedia-full HD players and recorders in China. Congrats Jennes!

Finally, TMP 2002 President Stephen Simsic reports: "On May 9, in Chicago, divinely guided by Father Nick of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral, witnessed by family and friends, Stephen Simsic and Laura Gunn combined mind, body, and soul in marriage. Exact terms of the merger are not known since much of the ceremony was conducted in Greek. Fellow Kellogg alums in attendance included Mark Angelos, Dave Ariola, Dave Goldman, Bharat Kakar, Hakan Hazneci, Luis Monteiro and Hasan Yardimci."

A happy winter to all. Please don't be a stranger, my e-mail box is always open and I am always up for a beer with a classmate if you are in Chicago.
