Betty Rhiew-Breslin ’96, her husband Mike, and her family spent a great weekend of fun in the sun with DJ and Kris Kisska Mehigan, both ’96, and their family in Wrightsville Beach, N.C. Glasses of wine on the beach at mid-afternoon were just the ticket to complete relaxation for the long weekend.

 

1996 — Full-Time

Ronen Kalmanson writes to update that he and his wife Leetal have a newborn son named Itay. He is their third child. They still live in Israel. Ronen met with David Schnall a couple of weeks ago (he came to visit Israel) and regularly meets with Ido Steinberger.

Halina Miglus has been based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia,for nearly five years. Sheis the head of customer experience for HSBC's service delivery unit globally, covering all major markets. Her son Miles (7) attends the Alice Smith School of Kuala Lumpur. Kellogg classmate Nicole Mussenden visited in September.

Sarath Ravipati, Chevron's global regional procurement manager, Americas, was named one of 2009's Top 25 Supply Chain Executives of the Year by Global Supply Chain Review in September.

Several classmates took a trip to Napa over the Fourth of July weekend. Shalini and Pradip Patiath ’96 and their daughter Meghana visited from Chicago. Also pictured are Jen and Bernard Koh ’96 with their son Nicholas and daughter Chloe, Rohini and Ram Krishnan ’96 with their twins Tarun and Ananya, and Rekha Hemrajani and husband Sanjay Popli with their sons Arman and Varun. The group also visited Quinton Jay ’96, general manager of Artesa Winery, who gave them a “behind the scenes” barrel-tasting tour which was fabulous.

Jose (Pepe) Rivas writes: "I graduated this summer from the doctorate program at Instituto de Empresa in Madrid and am a full-time business professor and researcher for ITAM in Mexico City. I will teach OB and strategy courses to undergrads and MBAs. Also, after eight years of marriage, Rossana and I finally managed to be parents: we adopted a baby girl (Carla). She is gorgeous and we feel very blessed by this chance life is giving us."

Adam Borut and Andrea Nylund (wife of Peter Nylund) have launched an environmental company. The company, Eco Hatchery, provides energy efficiency programs to help households save on utilities and reduce their environmental impact. Eco Hatchery (ecohatchery.com) provides Eco Kits that contain energy and water efficiency products, step-by-step instructions, and online tools that enable users to identify their individual savings opportunities and track their progress. Eco Hatchery sells direct to consumers, as well as to businesses and organizations that are seeking to engage and empower their employees to embrace sustainability.

Susie Heinberg Oleinik, Laura Heiss Varas and Jenny Ord Bonadio, who were roommates at Kellogg, brought their families together for a reunion this summer in Rehoboth Beach in Delaware. Once a cozy threesome in the Greenhouse, they are now a clan of 14, all living on the East Coast.

Since Kellogg, Susie and her husband Andrei have lived in Kiev, London and Paris. For the last seven years, they have lived in Princeton, N.J., where they spend most of their time trying to keep up with sons Nikita (5) and Peter (2). Susie has worked for Bristol-Myers Squibb for the last 11 years and works in global commercialization on a new drug for the treatment of breast cancer. Andrei commutes to New York for his work in graphic design.

Laura and her husband Eduardo (who attended Kellogg as an exchange student) moved from Chile nine years ago to Hingham, Mass., where they live with their children Laura (10), Eduardo (8) and Christian (4). Laura leads Mast Hill Consulting, a research and consulting firm that provides data and insight to help financial services providers improve how Americans invest for retirement and other goals. Eduardo is president of Best Valley Wines, an importer of fine small production wines, whose mission is to transport the natural wonders of distinctive valleys throughout Chile to the tables of discerning wine enthusiasts in the U.S.

Jenny and Bill Bonadio relocated from Baltimore to Washington D.C. this summer, settling in Great Falls, Va., with their children Alex (10), Claire (8) and Madelyn (5). Bill is vice president of strategic development for Boeing's integrated defense systems, while Jenny continues consulting in marketing strategy and communications.

Michelle Snyder reports: "Reef Wilson and I were married up in Healdsburg, Calif., our favorite wine country location, this past June. We had a beautiful ceremony overlooking a vineyard and dancing in a huge old barn. We were joined by a huge group of 1996 Kellogg alums from the Bay Area and beyond, including Christina Caulkins (Radichel), Carla (Johnson), Sarath Ravipati, Betsy Brown, Julie Goff (Whitney), Michelle McKinnon Veloso, Jane Coyne, Jane Hatch, Elizabeth Duff, Laura Kuo, Julie Yamato, Jeanne Perkins Varwig, Eileen Gallagher, and last but not least, Chris Summersgill. On the professional side, I can't believe I'm coming up on my 10-year anniversary at Epocrates. As the newly appointed head of our subscriber business, I am enjoying my new role and look forward to creating more opportunities to grow our business."
