At a point when normal people our age seek daily golf games and ratcheted-down activity levels, Bill and Mary Ann McGrath are spending two years living and working in China. Bill represents his law firm of McDermott, Will and Emery in Shanghai in a strategic alliance with a Chinese law firm. Mary Ann took a leave from her position on the faculty of Loyola University in Chicago to join him. She has taken a position as professor of marketing at the China Europe International Business School in Shanghai. They'll be back at their regular jobs in Chicago by August 2010. Meanwhile, they are enjoying the cultural immersion and challenges, diverse food, stimulating travel opportunities and even a once-in-a-lifetime total solar eclipse. If business or pleasure finds other alums on their side of the globe, please let them know at mmcgrath@ceibs.edu. Both are fairly astute tour guides, know enough Mandarin to get by and always enjoy sharing a meal with an English speaker. |
