Dallas
Alumni
Club of Dallas
2005
has been a year of great growth for the Kellogg Alumni Club
of Dallas/Fort Worth. In September, our club welcomed dozens
of recent graduates to the DFW Metroplex and adopted new by-laws
for our club. With the infusion of new volunteers, we're expanding
our board of directors to include four directors-at-large.
Their role is to provide strategic direction for our club
and provide additional programming support. We look forward
to building a strong foundation for the future growth of our
club.
In
addition to new governance initiatives, 2005 has also been
a year of expanded activities for the DFW Club. There are
just a few of the programs that our club sponsored or will
be hosting this year:
First
Thursdays TG: Every month, many of our members come together
for First Thursdays, a networking event held the first Thursday
of every month at Crockett's in the Hilton Lincoln Center.
Through First Thursdays, our members have found new jobs,
helped new students get ready for their Kellogg experience,
counseled Kellogg applicants and made many new friends.
Joint
Events with the Northwestern University Alumni Club and the
Wharton Club: Educational programs have included an on-site
tour of the new DFW Airport International Terminal and a visit
by noted NU professor David Zarefsky. This fall the Wharton
Club co-sponsored an educational program featuring Dallas
civic leaders who provided an economic update on the Trinity
River Project.
"Friends
and Family" events include the annual picnic hosted by
alum Audrey Pinkerton '99 and a special reception hosted by
the Make-A-Wish Foundation at the new Wishing Place in Las
Colinas.
We've
already started planning an even stronger schedule of programming
for 2006, leading off with a January fund-raiser to be held
at Jeroboam, a widely acclaimed restaurant in the heart of
downtown Dallas. Our slate of springtime educational programs
begins in February, supplemented with co-sponsored events
with other alumni clubs. Throughout the year DFW alumni club
members can typically choose from three to five events per
quarter to learn, network and meet new friends. We hope to
make the Kellogg Alumni Club of DFW an influential organization
in the local business community and a highly desired affiliation
for new Kellogg graduates. We welcome your ideas and look
forward to meeting you at one of our events.
