Desmond
Shum,
36, vice chairman and CEO of Airport Logistics Park Corporation,
will host a wedding reception with his lovely wife, Whitney,
in Hong Kong on Oct. 9 at the Four Seasons. The time pressures
of career and MBA studies prevented Desmond and Whitney from
celebrating their one-and-a-half year marriage until now.
The Kellogg-HKUST-07 class will certainly attend in full force
to help the couple celebrate.
Airport
Logistics Park Corporation is an investment company with a
focus on real estate investment. In addition to the investment
business, Desmond and Whitney stay busy with philanthropic
activity in education and promoting exchange between China
and the international community.
After
graduating from the Kellogg-HKUST program in April of this
year, Gregory Gilligan and family relocated
to Hangzhou, China — capitol of Zhejiang province —
from their previous residence in Xiamen. The move facilitates
Greg's position as general manager for McDonald's Southeast
China, which includes Zhejiang, Jiangxi and Fujian provinces,
and will facilitate the company's continued rapid expansion
in that region.
Steve
Beason joined Scientific Games Corporation as the
chief technology officer. In this position Steve will report
directly to Michael Chambrello, president and COO. Prior to
joining Scientific Games, Steve spent seven years at the Hong
Kong Jockey Club as their executive director, information
technology — an organization with $10 billion in annual
revenues. Steve will relocate to the U.S. for this new challenge,
but will travel to Hong Kong frequently to assist the Jockey
Club on a consulting basis.
Sophia
Wong, VP GE Equity Asia Pacific, recently relocated
from Hong Kong to New York City to join GE Asset Management
with their U.S. team of alternative investments covering private
equity investments and funds, real estate and hedge funds.
GE Asset Management is an investment management subsidiary
of the General Electric Company (GE) with over $178 billion
in total assets under management. Sophia will work out of
GE's Stamford, Conn. office.
Angela
Yen, GBS Analyst, Akzo Nobel Polymer Chemicals, has
recently relocated from Akzo Nobel Polymer Chemicals Ningbo,
China facilities to their Netherlands regional headquarters
at Amersfoort. Residing in Utrecht, Angela is on an assignment
there for three to five years.
Katsuhiko
Dendo has taken a new position with the Walt Disney
Company (Japan), Ltd. as director of retail sales and marketing
of Disney consumer products. Katsuhiko's work at Disney involves
developing the marketing and sales plan for new Disney characters
and brands, including many different kinds of Disney properties.
Katsuhiko was previously senior sales manager with Federal
Express Corporation.
Nicholas
(Nick) Appel has recently been appointed managing
director of a newly established Hong Kong office for Ryerson
International Materials Management Services Inc., a division
of Ryerson Tull, Inc. headquartered in Chicago. Nick joins
RTI with 17 years experience in metals trading, most recently
with Macsteel International Far East Ltd. in Hong Kong. With
his global portfolio of mill relationships, Nick will be charged
with the task of more fully extending Ryerson's global purchasing
reach, leveraging the company's dominant market position in
North America to achieve a competitive advantage in material
costs. Apart from his career, Nick takes great joy in participating
in church, community, and family activities with his wife
Terri, and children Christopher (6) and Olivia (3).
On
Aug. 1, David Soon assumed the role of director,
regional equity delivery management, at ABN AMRO. David, an
IT specialist, is in charge of delivering trading solutions
for ABN AMRO's equities business. David was previously a director
for information technology at Credit Suisse First Boston.
After
11 years with GE, Michael Tan has accepted
a position as president FIJI Water Asia. FIJI Water, headquartered
in Los Angeles, is a privately owned subsidiary of parent
Roll International with $1 billion in revenue. Not yet distributed
in Asia, Michael's task is now "Segmentation, Targeting and
Positioning!" Michael continues to be based in Singapore.
On
Sept. 1 of this year, Nike Corp's Jenny Gu
moved from a position as Nike Taiwan's finance director to
become director of supply chain for Nike (Suzhou) Sports Co.
Ltd. In this new role, Jenny services Nike's markets in both
mainland China and the Hong Kong SAR.
After
finishing the Kellogg-HKUST program in April, Mark
Knief, managing director, Cargill Philippines, Inc.
has relocated to the United States as general manager of global
consulting services for Cargill Animal Nutrition. Mark is
responsible for expanding the business globally by establishing
centers of expertise in Asia, Europe, Africa/Middle East and
South America. When not traveling, Mark resides in Minneapolis.
