Pablo Halpern was selected as chief strategist for the Chilean presidential candidate Michelle Bachelet, who would be the first woman to become president in Latin American history. The magazine Que Pasa (a Chilean version of Time) selected Pablo as one of the top 50 most influential Chileans in August.

Ash Brooks recently was able to leverage his Kellogg MBA and complete a 90-day special assignment for Arrow Electronics as acting president of one of its strategic business units, Arrow Zeus. This $275 million P&L unit specializes in the aerospace and military electronic components business. Ash was also recognized as a "One to Watch" award winner in the July 15 edition of CIO magazine, which can be found at cio.com/archive/071505/otw_winners.html.

In October 2004, Bill Beekman switched roles within Michigan State, moving from the medical school to senior consultant to the provost and vice president of finance and operations for Michigan State. On May 31, he and wife Cindy had their third child, William Philip, and are doing well.

On June 10, 2004, Scott Houdek and wife welcomed their seventh child, Betty Sue, into the world in Dallas. "We've been busy," said Scott.

In July, Sam Hocking and family moved from Dallas to San Francisco.

Neil Dhar recently moved from London back to Chicago and is responsible for PwC's Global Capital markets business in the Chicago market. This practice advises large corporations and private equity firms how to access the U.S. capital markets, including IPOs, public debt offerings, spin-offs, carve-outs and cross-border M&A. Neil was also admitted into the partnership of PwC in July.

Clayton Wiley Jr. was promoted to director of consumer and trade solutions at SC Johnson. He will relocate to headquarters in Racine, Wis. Clayton's talent, and the skills he acquired at Kellogg, helped him secure this promotion after being with the company for only nine months.

Ash and Kathleen Brooks, Paul and Jane Caudill, Patrick and Emily Strong and Ed and Cris Pfromer held their second annual play date in Steamboat Springs in August. There was much mountain biking, catching up and breakfasts at The Egg and I.

Tim Vlamis and Thomas Verghese have partnered to create Pioneer Balloon India. Tim and Thomas worked on the business plan during the last quarter of school and received official incorporation papers earlier in the summer. They are in the process of hiring key managers and beginning engineering design work on the buildings and lines.

In June, Jeff Strong assumed responsibility for P&G's health, beauty and pet care businesses at WalMart, in addition to his existing responsibilities. In total, this is a $4 billion business with 10 business teams and a marketing budget just shy of $200 million. Pending approval and closure of the Gillette acquisition, Jeff will also have that business which will add two additional teams. He, his wife and five children are doing great, and despite his heavy work load, he has enjoyed his passions of skiing and fishing quite a bit this year.

Milton Morris completed his first triathlon in late August in just over three hours. Professor Steve Rogers was on hand to cheer Milton on after the swim portion.
