The Kellogg Alumni
Club of Chicago got into the summer spirit by hosting several
social and family events to keep alumni from different years
connected and active. During June, July and August,KACC sponsored
alumni theater and concert events, a Kane County Cougars baseball
game, a tour of the Seurat Exhibit at the Art Institute of
Chicago, a TGIFand a well-attended golf outing at a popular
local course. In addition toenjoying some of Chicago’s great
cultural and entertainment attractions, alumni made an impact
in the community by volunteering for Chicago Cares, the largestone-daycommunity
service effort in Chicago. Kellogg alumnijoined thousands
of area volunteers cleaning, painting and helping with beautification
efforts in many neighborhoods. Several alumni have also recently
volunteered transcribingletters written home by a World War
II veteran and fellow Kellogg alum for the Library of Congress’
Veterans History Project. This project is making great progress,
thanks to our alumni efforts.
The KACC summerschedulealso
included the ever-popular monthly book club meetings and some
interestingprofessional development and educationalevents.
Louis W. Stern, John D. Gray Distinguished Professor Emeritus
of Marketing at Kellogg, presented “Accomplishing Market Channel
Change: Paths and Pitfalls” at a well-attendedprofessional
development event. An MD-MBA event was held for alumni in
the medical field to network and discuss issues impacting
their profession. Ken Kring '97, president of StratForm, led
a discussion on business strategy mapping for managers.Tom
Osenton, authorof The Death of Demand, and Timothy Calkins,
clinical associate professor of marketing at Kellogg, discussed
“Marketing Challenges in a Saturated Economy.”

to a successful start with the inaugural meeting of the new

More than 65alumni attended the first meeting and 25 volunteered
to help organize and participate on committees. The KACCNorth/Northwest
group has several more eventsslated for the coming year to
respond to the growing interest of our alumni in that area.
