EMP 57
From left, Kathleen and Ash Brooks EMP-57, Jane and Paul Caudill EMP-57, and Cris and Ed Pfromer EMP-57 take a breather while at Winter Park, Colo., in August.

EMP-57

Something seems unusual this time of year. Oh, it's the fact that we're not in Evanston every other weekend. This is the first fall in two years in which we've been able to avoid all-nighters working on statistics or finance. Now, for some of us, those all-nighters have been replaced by the wail of hungry new babies.

Patrick Herguth and his wife, Sunny, brought son Aidan into the world early this summer. Patrick seems to be settling into fatherhood very effectively. Son Aidan already is looking up to dad.

Shan and Drew Wilson welcomed young Seth Christian Wilson in early June. "Big" John Trainor and wife Gemma welcomed Isabella Trainor into their household in late July. Rumor has it that Isabella is already more than 2 feet tall and is halfway through John'smarketing research textbook.

In addition to parenting, John has also been busy launching a full-service Hispanic advertising agency named Kreativa Solutions (www.kreativasolutions.com) in Chicago. John previously ran Papel Media Network, a firm he founded five years ago that has become a market leader in placing ads in the country's top 256 Spanish-language newspapers. Though he remains involved in the company, he no longer handles day-to-day responsibilities. John says: "Kreativa's approach to market is unique in many ways. We begin from a community or a neighborhood level, and from there we take it up to a national scale, creatively combining traditional media with grassroots." Kreativa, with a staff of 25, targets Fortune 500 clients who wish to tap into the fast-growing U.S. Hispanic market.

Kathryn Streeby was recently promoted to marketing manager of sanitary products at Kohler Co. in Kohler, Wis.It's basically a bigger P&L, more fame, more fortune and a career "still in the toilet!" She and Victor volunteered at the PGA Championship that Kohler Co. hosted at Whistling Straits Golf Course July 9 to 16, and had a chance to hang out with Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson, among others. The best part of the tournament weekend, though, was that Jenny Ose, Andy Scheisl, Tedena MacFarlane/Adrian LaTrace, Mike Alessandro, Mark Mikel and Mark Gibson all paid a visit to Casa del Streeby for a mini-reunion.

Sam Hocking, managing director with Banc of America Securities, has recently received a promotion. He now oversees the Southwest and West Coast prime brokerage business and manages sales, capital introduction, operations and outsourced trading. Sam is responsible for $25 billion in custody and driving revenue through financing and trading from these assets. He now controls 40 percent of the prime brokerage revenue under his leadership.

As for social activities (of which EMP-57 is world renowned), Kathleen and Ash Brooks, and Jane and Paul Caudill joined Cris and Ed Pfromer for a weekend of intense mountain biking and wine drinking in early August in Grandby, Colo. Aside from some minor contusions and abrasions, the group had a wonderful time and continued to solidify the friendships created during our time at Kellogg.
