EMP-33

Hello EMP-33! Sean Kerins checked in with the following: "With no small thanks to Dave Donatelli for opening the door, I've just completed my eighth year at EMC. It's hard to believe it's been that long since EMP-33 was adjourned. Save for a three-year overseas tour in Singapore and London, I continue to reside in Boston, having finally matured enough to actually purchase a home, a condo in Charlestown. Having originally left a consulting firm to join EMC, my career has come full circle, as I now run our North American consulting operation.

"On the social front, I remain single, though there may have been a 'close call' or two. Contrary to popular EMP-33 lore, John Oldershaw and I are not the aging lotharios we're often made out to be. Dr. Johnny, as we call him, still lives in Boston as well in a beautiful waterfront penthouse on the North End; he continues to thrive in his radiology career. He and I just enjoyed a 'hearty' Labor Day weekend on Nantucket. I see Dave, his wife, Michelle, and their two beautiful kids frequently. All are doing well. Though he's too modest to boast, Dave continues to flourish at EMC. He's now an executive VP and runs our storage platforms operations business, which is basically the heart of the entire company.

"I really miss my fellow EMP-33ers, including Mark Wiesman, Rick Fantini, Julie Tolan, Pete Amenda and Joan. Please forward my best thoughts. Can anyone say 'Reunion'? I did see Mark and his blushing bride, Julie Tolan, in New Orleans last spring, as our respective alma maters nearly faced each other in the Final Four. I'm not sure, but Mark and I may have had one too many hurricanes in the French Quarter. Only Julie can truly judge."

Danny Kennedy writes: "We are busy with football, dance and more football. I became the new CEO of Riceland Foods on Aug. 1. In the company's nearly 100-year history, we have had just four CEOs, including me."

Chuck Brynelsen writes: "I have been back in the good old USA for almost two years now. I returned to Minneapolis and have been running our cardiac surgery technology business. This is the group providing products for performing bypass surgery without using the heart-lung machine. Things have been going well professionally, although I do miss living abroad --- it was great fun. On the personal side, my kids are growing up, with one in his fourth year of college and the second having graduated from high school. So Chris and I are looking forward to being empty nesters, one of the advantages of having started young."

Jill Matzke writes: "Warm greetings to all EMP-33ers. I'm still marketing supercomputers for SGI. Our product line grew 35 percent this past fiscal year, so they've upped our plan and it's all keeping me hopping! That, plus having our two boys now in high school; life gets more complicated, for sure. Traffic is getting worse again in Silicon Valley, so word is that things are finally starting to pick up some."

Tim Tonnella has this to say: "I got married at a ClubMed in Florida in June. Group J and families were all in attendance. I recently moved to San Francisco, running all four of Merrill's business in the West."

Hope everyone is well. Write me if you, like Sean, are interested in putting together some sort of a reunion. Ski trip to Vail?
