A
mini-reunion for Class of 2002 LAHIMA members |
2002
Our class
isn't slowing down in the least. We heard about many great
milestones and are excited to share the summer news (and some
lingering stories) with you all.
Weddings:
Jake Remley got married at the Cascades Country Club
in Grand Rapids, Mich., on Oct. 4, 2003. He writes that he
and his wife, Laurie, are enjoying married life in Boston,
where Laurie is a medical resident in radiology at Massachusetts
General Hospital and Jake is an associate in the capital markets
division of Lehman Brothers.
Loh
Kuo Loon writes that she was in New York City recently
to attend the wedding of Mari Minami and John Boo.
While Loh and Ayano Sakiyama flew halfway round the
world from Tokyo and Hong Kong, respectively, to attend the
wedding, the journey was nothing compared to the 13-year courtship
marathon of Mari and John. "It was amazing to see them tie
the knot finally," Loh said.

Susan
(Deutsch) Budd married Bob Budd on April 5, 2003, in Washington,
D.C. Rachael Manansala and Glenn Coleman '03 attended.
Since Kellogg, Susan has been working at AlixPartners as an
associate in the financial advisory services group. Susan
started out at the company's Detroit office while her husband
was earning his MBA at Michigan. The couple moved back to
Chicago in June and bought a condo in Lincoln Park.
Don
Pillsbury married Skye Ketonen on July 24 in the heart
of wine country, Sonoma, Calif. In attendance at the wedding
were fellow Kellogg alums Natalie Guenther, Matt
Schaefer, Flip Block, Margie (Block) Stineman '03,
Kevin Stineman, Melissa Gellert, Jeff Kelly,
Cameron Janes, Michele Fischbach '03, Lisa Jackson,
Andrew Garner and Mike Castellarin.
Pip
Wattanasiritham married Nat Kulnides on May 11 in Bangkok.
Kellogg attendees included Darika Soponawat, Warit
Jintanawan '03, Don Angspatt and Ponthep Tuntavadcharom
'03. Pip enjoyed celebrating with all of her Kellogg comrades,
and is especially thankful to Don, who flew in all the way
from the States for the wedding (and the Thai food). Although
Pip's new, considerably shorter last name removes her distinction
of having the longest name in our class, she still remains
one of the sweetest.
Most Kelloggians
would probably cite KOA, their section and GIM as three key
Kellogg experiences where students have fun and learn something,
but also get to know great people. This column is a testament
to that, as it includes news of many recent weddings of those
who started their relationship during these significant Kellogg
moments.
The first
example is the always-popular KOA leader-and-camper match:
Ryan Fong '01 and Stephanie Levine were married on
May 29 in New York. Stephanie writes: "We had a great time
celebrating with Kellogg friends, including Katie Weaver,
Brian Black '01 and Steve Collens '01, who were in our wedding
party." The happy couple have been living in the Bay Area,
where she is a senior product manager at Guidant Corp. and
he is a consultant with DiamondCluster International.
Next,
we have proof that sparks can fly when you are in MORS or
Management and Strategy with two cash cow couples: Michelle
Curtis and Phil Taksen, and Kate Solomon
and Dan Slivjanovski. Michelle and Phil were married
on July 17 at Tappan Hill in Tarrytown, N.Y. Fellow Kelloggians
there to celebrate were Carrie (Bither) Palmer, Kate
Solomon and Dan Slivjanovski, Colleen Sellers and Dave
Delorenzo, Mazen Ghurani and Jason Tenenbaum.

The newlyweds
then flew to Martha's Vineyard over Labor Day weekend to celebrate
the nuptials of Kate and Dan. The weather was perfect, and
it was an absolutely beautiful setting for an extremely fun
wedding. Kelloggians in attendance were Natalie Guenther,
Matt Schaefer, Melissa Gellert, Lisa Jackson,
Marlisa Kopenski, Jeff O'Hare, Jake Remley,
Michelle Curtis, Phil Taksen, Nan Teele, Robyn Kestenbaum
and Andy Henkel.
But, what
would a series of Kellogg couples be without a GIM trip meeting?
Jay Marine put his charms on Megan Ainsworth
during their South Africa GIM. They were married on June
26 in theCatskill Mountains of New York. Will Daly
and Eric Autio served as groomsmen, and Julie Saliba,
Adriana McGrath and Chip Craw all gave readings
during the ceremony. Plenty of other Kellogg alums were there
to join in the celebration including Michelle Beels,
Claire Lundin, Vanessa Zielke, Jenny Eselius,
Colleen Sellers, David DeLorenzo, Jim Butler,
Lori Siegel, Stephanie (Levine) Fong, Ryan Fong,
Brad Benn, Patrick Ku, Michelle Suhrie,
Michele Lee and Amy Simpson.
Kellogg
romances continued at post-Kellogg events as well. Stay tuned
to future issues for a wedding sparked by a one-year reunion
union.
New jobs
and relocations: Reed Krider and Sara Wegmann
have recently moved to Minneapolis, where they bought a house.
Reed started a new position at Medtronic as senior manager
for pricing in its cardiac rhythm management group. Sara was
able to get a transfer with Deloitte and Touche, where she
will continue as manager of the women's initiative at Deloitte.
They are excited about the move.

alums let her know when they are in town.

a start-up pharmaceutical company in San Diego called Skinmedica.
After a two-week road trip through San Francisco, Oregon and
Seattle, he and his wife, Annie, landed in San Diego and bought
a condo in the city. Aaron is enjoying his new job, in which
he will be launching and managing a new dermatological drug.
He's excited to be working for a small but growing company.
Jose
Sabino moved back to Brazil after two fun-filled years
of working and living in Miami. Jose writes that although
he misses Miami and the good friends he left there, he is
very happy to be back in Brazil. His new position is as sales
and marketing effectiveness manager with Dupont for Latin
America. Please let Jose know if you plan to visit either
São Paulo or Rio de Janeiro.
Wayne
Borduin, his wife, Stacie, and their daughters, Elisabeth
and Abigail, recently relocated from Singapore to Rio de Janeiro.
Wayne is enjoying his fourth and final assignment on ChevronTexaco's
MBA development program, while Stacie and the girls keep busy
with learningPortuguese and the caRIOoca way of life. The
family plans to return to the States later this year.
Juan
Carlos Gay recently completed his work in Nigeria, where
he spent the last year, and has relocated to London to continue
work with Booz Allen. He now works in the energy group, mainly
on oil and gas projects. He says that anyone who passes through
London should give him a call.
Will
Daly and Amy Simpson recently purchased and moved
into a new condo near the Southport corridor in Chicago. Although
they are still digging themselves out of boxes, they report
they are really enjoying their new neighborhood and are looking
forward to decorating their new home.
