Thanks to everyone
for all the updates. Please keep them rolling in. Also, don't
forget to check the online version of Kellogg World
at alumni.kellogg.northwestern.edu (click on the "Class Notes"
link). It sometimes has additional photos that don't make
it into the print version.
Stu Fisher and
Cecilia Aviles-Fisher '97 recently welcomed their first child,
a girl named Alexandra. Mom, dad and baby are all doing just
fine, but the dog is suffering from quite a bout of depression.
Anyone living in the Bay Area should stop by and give poor
Jack a hug.

Class of 1996ers Allen and Hsin-Hsin
Lueth with new addition Amber Ying-An |
|
|
Hsin-Hsin
(Tsai) and Allen Lueth have many exciting changes
happening in their lives. The most exciting is the Aug. 17
birth of their first daughter, Amber Ying-An Lueth. In Chinese,
Ying-An means "overflowing peace." They say they chose that
name because throughout the pregnancy and delivery, whenever
there were any concerns or worries, God gave them an internal
peace. At the end of September, Hsin-Hsin and Allen relocated
from Shanghai to Guangzhou, where Hsin-Hsin is continuing
her career with P&G. Allen, after six years with GE Capital,
is taking a break from work life and spending time at home
as a full-time daddy. They would like to hear from you at
htsai1996@kellogg.northwestern.edu and alueth1996@kellogg.northwestern.edu.
Benoit Rossignol,
managing director of Shiyao Investment Ltd., a Shanghai-based
investment bank focused on the food and retail sector, was
featured in an article in the Asian Wall Street Journal
on the fragmented nature of the investment-banking business
in China. The story, "Small Deal Makers Help Remake Corporate
China," was included in the April 26 issue of the publication.
Tim and
Catherine (Tantoco) Daniels announce with much joy
the birth of their daughter, Ava Scarlett, on Feb. 11 in London.
Ava is Tim and Catherine's first child. In between feedings,
"Baby Mozart," nappy changes and lots of video-taking, Tim
is director of group strategy and planning at Barclays Bank
plc, and Catherine is global category marketing manager for
new initiatives at Reckitt Benckiser plc. Tim and Catherine
say: "We love being parents, and living in London the last
two years has been wonderful. We manage to see some former
Kelloggians, such as Nina Ragone, Yannis Repoulis,
Cecile Tiano, Heather McAndrews and Karina (Rufino)
Van Den Oever '01. If you're in London, please look us up.
We look forward to seeing you all at the 10-year reunion."
Congratulations
to Robert Sipay Rozwat and Anne Spies. They
were married in Santorini, Greece, in July. Rob and Anne live
in Chicago, where Rob works with Siebel Systems in its global
services practice and Dr. Spies teaches at the Illinois College
of Optometry.
Sven Zehnder
writes to give us an update on the last several years. After
graduation Sven worked for Nike Germany in an effort to build
its soccer business. After two years of bratwurst and sauerkraut,
he headed to Nike's European headquarters in Holland, where
he was in charge of an EHQ-led initiative, Euro 2000 --- a
marketing project focusing on the European soccer championships
in Holland and Belgium. Sven returned to his native Switzerland
two years later, joining a sports agency powerhouse named
ISL, which markets (television and marketing rights) various
sporting events, including the Soccer World Cup, the Tennis
ATP and IAAF Track and Field Series. Three years ago, he joined
Switzerland's Formula 1 Team, Sauber Petronas, where he is
in charge of marketing and sponsorship. On a more personal
note, Sven and wife Jadranka had their first baby, son Robin
Sven Percy, this summer. Sven invites anyone traveling to
Zurich to look them up.
Meredith and Greg
McGuirk are excited to announce the birth of their son,
Ryan James, in July. The McGuirks live in Chicago, where Greg
is in charge of the floor coatings division at Valspar, one
of the top five paint companies in the world.
A gaggle of Kelloggians
met up again this spring for their annual golf weekend, which
has been held every year (rain or shine) since our graduation
in 1996. Word has it that Chip Walters did a phenomenal
job planning this year's event in beautiful Scottsdale, Ariz.
He passed the torch to Peter Schmitz for next year.
Reports have confirmed that scores were very high on average,
but not as high as the May heat in Arizona. The crew thoroughly
enjoyed their home for the weekend, which was outfitted with
a pool, hot tub, putting green, dart board and pool table.
Other Kelloggians braving the heat were Andy Andress, David
Berkowitz, Gary Ferrera,Stephen Hiscott, David Kniffin,Don
Raftery,Nick Reynolds and first-time attendees
Andrew Zimmerman and Brent Lewis. Jeff Mills wasin
L.A. with clubs in hand, ready to jointhe crewwhen hisjob
called him back to work. He was sorely missed. The
group is eagerly awaiting Peter's announcement of chosen venue
for next year's excursion.
After
five years in Philadelphia and a year abroad in Belgium, Janet
and Eric Beatty have returned to the Chicago area,
where Eric continues to work for FMC. Janet and Eric have
three children — Henry, 6, Gretchen, 4, and Clara, 2
— and the same dog they have had since Kellogg. (Some
of you may remember Ed, who is now 9 years old). The family
has settled in Winnetka. |
