Members of the Kellogg Alumni Club of New York (KACNY) gathered on Feb. 12 for "New Year, New You: Achieving a Healthy Balance." The session was led by Monica Shah '03, founder of Ideal Balance, which helps professionals find a healthy balance in their lives. The event was hosted by Equinox.
On Feb. 23, the KACNY held a panel discussion, "Buying an Apartment in New York," hosted by TIAA-CREF. The panel, which included an attorney, mortgage broker and real estate agent, addressed the purchasing process, cautions that buyers should exercise, and the shortfalls of commonly used public information sources. Following the panel, attendees engaged in an open discussion about taxes and purchasing from developers.
In collaboration with the Office of Alumni Career Services and under the leadership of Michelle Awuku-Tatum '02, the KACNY hosted three alumni job search groups this winter. Job search groups are moderated discussion groups, which touch on topics such as making sense of assessments, creating a marketing plan, and working with executive recruiters among others.
The club's entrepreneurs group also hosted a panel of angel investors including Sunil Hirani '94 and Brad Morehead '05 on Jan. 26 at the Princeton Club of New York. The panel provided an in-depth discussion on the advantages and challenges of investing in early stage startups. The Kellogg Entrepreneurs Group of New York, under the leadership of Hermann Mazard '96, will host its annual series of pitch events, starting with "The Art of Pitching" workshop this spring.
KACNY continues the Kellogg TG tradition with monthly TGs organized every third Thursday of the month. See your e-mail for details or contact the club for more information.
On Jan. 26, Brad Morehead ’05 helped demystify the process of angel investing for members of the Kellogg Alumni Club of New York. He was joined by panelists Peggy Wallace, David Rose, and Sunil Hirani ’94. |
