EMP-36

Steve Flinn, founder and CEO of ManyWorlds Inc., has spent a lot of his time since EMP-36 inventing and developing better ways for computer systems to learn from their experiences with users and to adapt accordingly. He describes this technology and its implications for business in the recently published book, The Learning Layer. Steve is most grateful to Dean Emeritus Dipak Jain for writing a nice endorsement for the book.

Mark T. Nelson reports his new company, Microscopy Innovations, has hit the milestone of first sales of its bio-specimen preparation system. Mark writes: "I'm now beginning the angel fundraising phase and enjoying the opportunity to promote the company. The company expects to develop additional products for the pathology market in the next year. Greetings to all my friends from EMP-36! Please stop in if you're ever in our part of Wisconsin."

I (Karen Kalbacher Stevens) am happy to report that my company, World Travel By Design, Inc (WTBD) has returned to growth after the 2009 downturn. WTBD continues to offer custom trips for families and groups and meeting planning, and has now expanded into planning educational trips on behalf of universities for their students.

Congratulations to Mark Bader who welcomed new grandson Luke Charles Ewoldt!

Wishing everyone a wonderful spring. Keep the updates coming. Mark and I really enjoy hearing from everyone.
