Joe Geders writes: "I am writing to you from Florence, Italy, where I am taking an intensive course in Italian. I am preparing for my new job in Rome, I have been named the new Econome (or Treasurer) General of my religious order (the Vincentians or the Congregation of the Mission). The position is at our General Curia near the Vatican. The 54 provinces of the congregation throughout the world report their financial condition to the Superior General through my office. It is my job to evaluate their fiscal health and ensure that any applicable procedures or law is obeyed. I also assist some of the provinces in investing their patrimonial funds who are not able to do this themselves.
