Kellogg World Alumni Magazine

Greetings 87'ers- Thank you to Tim Hennessey for writing, so I have some news to share! Tim writes: "Greetings from our nation's capital. Last year I put away my board shorts and SPF and sadly left Fort Lauderdale, where I had been for ten years. I was asked to be on a team working with the Small Business Administration in D.C., stress testing their loan procedures so the SBA can scale to meet growing demand. This was right before President Obama gave an additional $42 billion to the SBA program, and he wanted to make sure the agency could handle the increased activity. It was a nonpolitical position, being that all sides agreed that everything needed to be done to support small business growth. It was a pretty cool posting. How I ever got a security clearance, I'll never know! I really like D.C. and there is a great mix of business here so I have relocated my company to Washington. This year celebrates ten years of Hennessey Financial Services, my project finance and accounting company (henfinancial.com). Looking forward to connecting with Kellogg alums in the area. See you all at our 25-year reunion next year! I would love to hear from you guys." Contact Tim at tim@henfinancial.com.

That sounds like a great opportunity, Tim. Congrats and thanks again for the news, which is hard to come by these days. This brings me to something I've been thinking about related to the column and how to keep it alive in the era of Facebook, LinkedIn, et al. I think what's needed is class column "reporting" vs. "editing" — proactively reaching out to classmates, gathering info and reporting back to the class in the magazine. This is definitely a different role than traditional class editor. This would be something I'd enjoy very much when I have the time, but right now, work and personal commitments make that tough. So, if anyone would like to step up, reach out to a classmate or two or three by corresponding, talking, even interviewing them and then sharing that back with the rest of us, that would be great. Let me know if you'd like to volunteer. I'm sure everyone would appreciate it very much. 'Til next time.
