EMP-53
Greetings,
EMP-53! Some great news from our class and, as always, hope
to hear from more of you soon.
Philip
Pang writes that he accepted a great job offer from Dover
Corp., a $7-billion Fortune 500 company, where he is now the
managing director of China and India operations. His manufacturing
plants are in Shanghai, China, and Chennai, India. He will
work with Wilden Pump (under Dover's umbrella), the world's
largest manufacturing supplier of air-operated double diaphragm
pumps (write to him if, like me, you would like to understand
what a diaphragm pump actually does). Proof that it's a small,
small world: Joe Fiore is also working for Dover, and
both Ash Krishnan and Kellogg Dean Deepak Jain and
are natives of Chennai.
Philip's
main office is in Shanghai, but he will travel to Chennai
once a month. His family is also doing very well. Daughter
Amy (5), who was EMP-53's firstborn baby, is attending preschool
in Chicago. His wife will graduate from UIC in May with a
health/nutrition major and will soon become a registered dietitian.
Philip also offers this open invitation: "I would like
to host many more EMP-53ers who are planning to visit Shanghai
this year. Last year, I hosted Jay Kobitter and Gerry
Hagel. Both enjoyed the local food and shopping."
Through
Philip, I also heard that Ash is now working in Hyderabad.
Please write, Ash!
Byron
Uytiepo missed the happy hour, but sounds great, as usual.
Dan
Roman has accepted a new position as director of transaction
services for BDO Seidman LLP, a major accounting/consultancy
firm. He is still based in Chicago. Good luck, Dan!
Bill
Birck is now the president
of Reed Illinois Corp.. The company is having a great year
and Bill seems, well, somehow more presidential. I ran into
him, Scott Kirkpatrick and Bill Rogers at the Economic Club dinner in December. Bill Rogers had also changed
firms. He is now the managing director of Jones Lang LaSalle
in Chicago.
Pam
Alexa joined Wyeth as the assistant vice president of
its U.S. vaccine marketing division in October 2006. Pam had
been with Johnson & Johnson for 19 years, so this is a
big change. Huge congratulations, Pam.
Uma
Murty writes that all is well. She is still the director
of services, networks and enterprise in Motorola's global
marketing and communications division.
Julie
Einstein is still in Boston with Pulte as New England
vice president of operations and writes that Miss Jordan Chase
Stuecken is almost 1 year old now.
Reed
Melton was one of the few brave souls to make the happy
hour on a pretty frigid night, and looks great, as usual.
Take
care and please be in touch! Cheers.
