Anyone who lost to him during negotiations won't be surprised to learn that Steve Fredrick made the final table in the first World Poker Tour Event of the Mirage Poker Showdown in Las Vegas. He finished 5th, winning $167,000. Steve also won a World Series of Poker circuit event at Caeser's Palace one week earlier, and last we heard, he was playing in Paris. Nice work if you can get it, Steve!

Anita Tang's company, Royal Roots Global Inc. — headquartered in Chicago, with associates in Washington, D.C., Hong Kong, Shanghai and Beijing — has emerged as a marketing and management bridge between the United States and China. Anita consults for clients from both countries. The company's quarterly publication, China Call Report, focuses on business development. Last summer Anita co-authored a 10-week series about American business practices for China's national World News Journal; in October, she addressed the World Productivity Congress in Shenyang on cultural barriers between China and the West; and on Nov. 21, she and Clinical Marketing Professor Timothy Calkins analyzed Chicago's brand perceptions in China on WTTW TV.
