1997
— Full-Time
On
June 15, Barbee
(Bartolome) Chuidian
and her husband, Tim, welcomed the arrival of their third
child. Finally, they got their baby girl! She was a wonderful
addition to their two boys, Enrique (6) and Jaime (5). Barbee
and her family continue to live in Hong Kong and welcome visitors
anytime!
Susan
Greenspan Cohen and her family are about to relocate to
Raleigh, N.C. She would love to hear from any Kellogg alums
in the area! Susan and her husband have three kids: Zachary
(6), Ali (4) and Sophie (1). Her husband, Neil, will be joining
MeadeWestvaco's intellectual property group, and she will
be looking for a new job once the family is situated.

On
Feb. 28, 2006, Annette Herz and her husband, Ian Wilcken,
welcomed their son Tobias to the world. During his brief 11
months, he has already transformed from a mellow little fellow
to an energetic whirlwind. If any fellow Kelloggians are in
the Boston area, please give the family a holler. Also, in
August, Asha (Morgan) Moran, Marty Moran,
Nancy Blair and Annette Herz got together
in the hopping town of St. Cloud, Minn., home of Creative
Memories. After much reminiscing, the group toasted the next
generation of Kelloggians: Priya and Marty Moran and Tobias
Wilcken. The location for the next mini-reunion is still to
be determined.
Corrado
Giaquinto was promoted to marketing director for Colgate-Palmolive
Poland and he and his family will relocate in April after
two wonderful years in Russia, most of them spent under a
meter of snow. As payback for all the years Corrado spent
in sunny Naples, the winter curse continues and threatens
to be longer than the Bambino's. Corrado also resigned as
president of the Kellogg Alumni Club of Russia, bringing the
vodka industry to its knees.
John
Ganz passed the Illinois bar exam and was sworn in in
November. He's working as an associate at Latham & Watkins
in Chicago, focusing on litigation. He recently caught up
with classmate Dani (Cunningham) Cupps over lunch.
Michael
Locke and his wife, Heather, upped the ante to four with
the arrival of Graham Whittemore Locke in March 2006. He joined
big brother Skip (6) and big sisters Cate (5) and Caroline
(3) in Chicago, where Michael is the CEO of Rasmussen College
Inc.
Stacey
(Watson) Schiesl married Andrew Schiesl (EMP-57) on Sept.
2 on Martha's Vineyard during gale force winds left over from
Hurricane Ernesto. Franco Cirelli joined them for the
weekend. Stacey is coming up on 10 years with Harley-Davidson,
where she is the director of the museum they are building
in Milwaukee. The museum will open in 2008. Stacey and Andy
have a fantastic English mastiff named Louise and they are
looking forward to Reunion in May!
Andy
Maner and his wife,
Julie '96, are still living in Washington, D.C., with their
three boys, Cole (7), Alex (4) and Charlie (2). Andy left
the Bush administration in 2006 after five years as chief
financial officer at the Department of Homeland Security and
as chief of staff at U.S. Customs and Border Protection. After
running the finances for immigration reform, six Category
4-5 hurricanes — including Hurricane Katrina —
and the recapitalization of the entire U.S. Coast Guard's
air and sea fleets, Andy decided to take a rest. He runs his
own advisory company that helps companies, large and small,
attempt to produce and market/sell products and services for
the international homeland security and intelligence market.
He is also advising select private equity firms on investments
in these arenas and is also speaking on the trials and tribulations
of government service. He believes that more MBAs need go
into government service at some point, so look out. He is
coming after some folks at our 10-year Reunion, especially
fellow Section 61ers, since they were supposed to be the poets
or misfits or something.

Steve
Olszewski and his wife, Lisa, have had quite a busy few
months. In December, they moved from North Carolina to suburban
Chicago, where Steve has taken a job with Discover Financial
Services. They also welcomed their third child, Kaitlin Elizabeth,
to the world on Jan. 26. Mom, dad and Kaitlin's older brothers,
Justin and Tyler, are well.
Mike
Gooch-Breault has been working for Verizon, developing
its retail store channels. He and his wife, Katherine, live
in New York and spend most of their time chasing son Griffin
(2). Mike hopes to attend the New York pre-Reunion get-together.
Andy
Scott, wife Stacey and kids Audrey (4) and Nathan (2)
are happy to be back in their house after a long remodel.
They still love living in San Francisco, although many of
their friends have moved to the suburbs. Andy continues to
keep busy and enjoys the intellectual property transaction
advisory firm that he co-founded several years ago. They recently
renamed the firm Pluritas.
While
on business in Tokyo in December, John Laughbaum met
up with Ichiro "Ike" Kawanabe, Osamu Karita,
Yoshi Kaji and Jun Kawana for a night on the town.
They had a great time catching up. John and his wife, Elaine,
are still in Columbus, Ga., and have three daughters: Marty
(7), Lucy (5) and Nancy (2). He is still with Aflac, where
his current role is vice president for strategic services.
Alex
Magin and her husband, Jon, are living in San Diego, Calif.,
with their sons, Phillip (8) and Logan (6). Alex works at
Sony Electronics as director of product marketing for TVs
and Jon is running his own business, Non Lethal Solutions.
Please look them up if you are ever in town! They look forward
to seeing everyone at the 10-year Reunion in May.
Marty
Caverly and his family
have moved from London to Los Angeles. They now reside in
Pacific Palisades, Calif. They miss their friends in London
(and cannot believe they spent seven years there), but not
the weather. Marty now works for O'Connor Capital Partners,
a private equity real estate firm covering the western United
States. His family is well. Kids Bray (8), Gillian (6) and
Grant (4) have adjusted well to the southern California lifestyle
and quickly lost their British accents. Marty's wife, Courtney,
enjoys playing tennis without wearing sweats and a wool hat
and has found her tan. Anyone in the area should feel free
to drop him a line.
Jasjit
Mangat, wife Preet Dhillon and daughter Meher (1) moved
back to the United States last summer after nearly three years
in India. They moved to Boston, where Jasjit continues to
work with OATSystems, an MIT-spinoff, and Preet continues
her work in cancer epidemiology. Meher is a bundle of joy.
Jasjit writes, "India is rocking, and we're still trying
to figure out how we've ended up in the frigid Boston winter!" |
