Fliss
writes: "I'm living in Massachusetts and working in Providence,
R.I., as director of executive rewards for Textron, a $10-billion,
multi-industry company with divisions including Cessna Aircraft,
Bell Helicopter and EZ Go golf carts. I joined Textron three
years ago after several years in the Chicago area with Sears
in strategy, finance and human resources positions. Kath and
I are preparing for an eventful 2007, as our oldest son, Palmer,
graduates from high school and heads off to college. Northwestern
is a possibility for him. Our younger son, Ryan, is a high
school freshman who is very impatient to begin driving like
his big brother. Sorry we missed the Reunion, but we hope
that all in the Class of '96 are doing well."

On
Jan. 30, Ian Dyson and Sarah Bisley welcomed their
third child, William. A younger brother to Sophie (7) and
Joe (5), he has settled in well at home. Meanwhile, Ian has
been working as a consultant on due diligence for private
equity acquirers and growth strategies for listed companies.
Dave
Gannon started a new job with BP as the marketing director
on Castrol Heavy Duty Motor Oil business in Wayne, N.J. in
June. It's been a fun challenge for him so far. He writes:
"It's a very different world marketing to truck drivers,
compared to my Reckitt Benckiser days targeting suburban moms."
Sven
Zehnder began his new role as vice president, partnership
marketing for Visa International (based in Europe) in September.
Audrey
Klein writes to give us an update: "I have been in
Europe the past eight years, working in Germany and London,
and have enjoyed the challenges and rewards tremendously.
I am based in London now, and I have joined the Park Hill
Real Estate Group as head of its Europe division. The Park
Hill Real Estate Group (a Blackstone affiliate) is a leading
adviser and equity placement agent focused on raising capital
for real estate strategies worldwide, and we currently represent
strategies in North America, Latin America, India, and Western,
Central and Eastern Europe. As a firm, we seek to work with
only the highest-quality general partners, including the Blackstone
Group. As a matter of fact, one of the general partners for
whom we are raising money, Red Fort (a top real estate fund
based in India), is led by two Kellogg alums — small
world! If anyone is in London and would like to stop by, please
do!"
Chris
Quan lives in San Francisco, where he drives a car, operates
machinery, and experiences occasional drowsiness. In his spare
time he listens obsessively to the Fall and wishes Justine
Frischmann of Elastica and Polly Jean Harvey lived next door.

Jose
Martin writes: "My wife, Pilar, is busy headhunting
at Egon Zehnder, I'm trying to raise funds for a healthcare
startup I want to launch (a process that has gotten me in
touch with several Kelloggians), and we both miss the times
at Kellogg when things were so easy. The long group meetings,
in perspective, seem like child's play compared to managing
a family!"
Justin
"Josh" Shelby has recently become president
of Northport Private Equity, which raises capital from high-net-worth
individuals and invests in large, late-stage, high-tech companies
sponsored by top Silicon Valley venture capital firms. He
is enjoying life in Glencoe, Ill., with his wife and three
kids.
Liza
Wintroub Hausman writes: "I've been at QuinStreet
(pre-IPO, online direct marketing company) for four years
now, but this year I changed positions within the company
and am now heading up our media buying organization and managing
our business development relationships with large media properties
like Yahoo, MSN and AOL. We live in Palo Alto, Calif., and
I have two great kids, Cole (4) and Leigh (1)."
Barbara
and Greg Sigel and kids Matthew and Emily welcomed
new baby Julia Yael into the world in August. They are living
in Marin County, Calif., and enjoy spending time with classmate
Elliott Kopstein and his wife Leslie.
Bill
Norris writes: "I
have been at Hewlett Packard in California since I graduated.
I recently took a job as director of supply chain management,
sales and customer service at HP Gaming. I live in Santa Cruz
with my wife, Sancha Huang '91, and two girls: Emily (4) and
Lucy (2). I would love to see my old buddies if they are in
town."
Sarath
and Carla Johnson Ravipati have just finished one year
in Cape Town. Sarath's travel takes him all over Africa with
Chevron and he is really enjoying managing procurement. Carla
has loved having two Kellogg classmates come visit: Michelle
Snyder and Katherine McCormick.

Don
Vinh writes: "In December, my wife and I traveled
to China to pick up our daughter, Angelina. She is 1 year
old and was born in Hunan province. We had wanted to adopt
a baby girl for a while, and we were thrilled to finally have
Angelina in our arms. We stayed in China for three weeks and
were able to come back right before Christmas to spend it
with our son Jordan (4). We are still living in Boston, and
I am still working for Kronos, a workforce management software
company. I switched from marketing to finance last year, and
I love the fact that I no longer have to travel. I met up
with Kerry Kim, who has started working for Novell
here in Boston and is moving his family from Oregon."
Rachel
Bass Hyman and Jeffrey Hyman '95 are happy to announce
the birth of their son, Jonah Alexander. Jonah surprised everyone
and arrived five weeks early. Rachel, Jeff, Jonah and big
brother Maxwell (2) are thoroughly enjoying life as a foursome
in Chicago.
Ram
Krishnan writes with an update: "I've been running
the marketing and product functions for a San Francisco-based,
venture-backed software company for the past nine months.
The company is growing and evolving quickly while still achieving
its business goals, and I'm enjoying work. My wife, Rohini,
and I have been living for a couple of years now in our present
home in Saratoga, Calif., with our 5-year-old twins. We've
been in touch with various Kelloggians on and off, though
it's harder with kids and with the passage of time."
Judson
Weaver announces the birth of daughter Tessa, who joined
the family a little more than a year ago. She joins big brothers
Jackson and Calvin. Judson is managing director at BlackRock
Inc., one of the world's largest publicly traded investment
management firms. He lives in Hoboken, N.J. and works in Manhattan.
Walt
O'Shea has been with Hines, a privately owned, international
real estate investment, development and management firm, for
over 10 years. His title is vice president and he is working
on several development projects in northeastern Florida. One
of them, Palencia, is a 2,300-acre master-planned community,
and the other is The St. John, a 52-story condominium in downtown
Jacksonville. Walt and wife Mona (whom many of you may remember
from the time at Kellogg), divorced last year. They have three
kids: Dylan (9), Connor (8) and Sophia (5). Walt writes that
the kids are adjusting well and see their mom, who lives nearby,
regularly.
With
great sadness, we share the news that on Nov. 9, David
Blackburn, surrounded by his family and most importantly
at peace, passed away after an extended battle with cancer.
He is survived by wife Tiffany and three children. |
