EMP-50

Hello, everyone. Some time has passed since our last update, and EMP-50 is clearly staying busy. First, yours truly has experienced a number of changes since our last update. Kim, Andrew and I welcomed Avery Elizabeth, who was born June 19. What a wonderful addition to our family. As if that wasn’t enough, however, we packed up the homestead in Chicago and moved to Minneapolis. The mild winters were really starting to get to us! Actually, PricewaterhouseCoopers offered me an excellent opportunity in our office here, and with the promise of a reduction in travel, I took it. Life is certainly better when you can be home to enjoy it.

Speaking of new additions, Mikal and Lori Harn had their first child, a little girl, in November. Abigail Francesca Harn was born Nov. 16, weighing 8 pounds, 1 ounce. At last check, the family was doing just fine, though mom was getting nervous about returning to work and leaving her wonderful daughter.

In our update last summer, I wrote that Michalene and Scott Kell were at the hospital and about to welcome their second child. Maggie Merritt Kell was born May 23, and the family is doing very well.

As many of you know, Doug Yakola and Carrie Weismer EMP-52 married last October in Jamaica, with a number of classmates in tow. What you may not know is that the happy couple is now splitting time between Indianapolis and Chicago, as Doug left Northwest Airlines to join ATA as its vice president of station operations. Now, when you have travel problems with ATA, you can actually tell the gate agent what you’ve wanted to so many times before ─ “I know your boss and we’ll see what he thinks about it!”

And finally, after almost a year in waiting, I am publishing the oldest news on the planet. Michele Gile left Chicago early last year to take on a new position with Pfizer as area manager for the company’s national health-care operations division for the new Rocky Mountain region, headquartered in Denver. Michele’s job is to lead and facilitate the regional council strategic meetings, and to lead and develop those who report to her. I am certainly sorry that it took so long to get Michele’s information out, and I know that I speak for everyone as I wish her well in her new position.

Well, that’s it from the EMP-50 front. As always, please send me your updates!
