Kellogg Class of 1994 alums during an impromptu — and unplanned — reunion in the Baltics.

1994

Hello everyone! By now you should have received plenty of information about our upcoming 10th reunion, April 30 to May 2. Hopefully, many of you have already registered and are planning on heading to Evanston to celebrate the past 10 years with friends and classmates! We have a great weekend planned, and hope that the Class of 1994 will be well represented at reunion. Thanks to everyone who is serving on the reunion committee and helping out. It has been fun reconnecting with classmates and learning what everyone is doing these days!

Even if you can’t make it back, there are ways to participate in the reunion celebration! If you have never sent in an update for the Class Notes (or don’t even read them), now is the perfect time to let everyone know where you are and what you are up to! You can submit it directly to me at suzie.rubin@alumni.duke.edu. Also if you have not done so already, update your information on the new Power Up Kellogg Alumni Network. There are a number of new resources that we have access to as Kellogg alumni, and the new network is a great way to connect with classmates and other alums. And last, but not least, part of the reunion effort is to give back to Kellogg. Even if you cannot make it back, I hope that you have the reunion spirit and will consider making a contribution toward our class gift.

Now for the news, starting with a lot of job changes! Thanks to Eric Logan for sending in an update. Eric lives in the Dallas suburbs with his wife Dai and daughters Sigourney and Winnie. Eric is CEO of Adams Golf. He loves being in the sporting goods industry, and is trying to build Adams into a top-tier golf equipment company. Prior to joining Adams, he spent a year as the CFO of Daisytek International, a $2 billion IT distributor that recently went through Chapter 11 bankruptcy. He was named CFO as the company filed, and helped see Daisytek through the process. It was the most exhilarating, tiring, stressful and ultimately successful time of his business career. Together with a colleague, Eric has proposed a course focused on bankruptcy restructuring to the SMU graduate school of business, and they hope to teach it in the summer. Eric hopes to make it back for reunion. He has caught up with a number of classmates in Dallas, including Andrew Geissler and James Kim, who have been through on business, as well as Don Porth, who competes in a duathalon series in Dallas. Another classmate who spends a lot of time in Dallas is J.P. Sabarots. J.P lives and works in San Francisco for Landor Associates, a branding consultancy. Assigned to Frito Lay, he spends a lot of time in Dallas, basically helping to develop strategies for introducing new brands and revitalizing old ones.

Also in Texas, Patrick Griffin lives outside Houston with his wife Kristin and their two children, Aaron, 4, and Kate, 1. Last August, after nine years with Compaq/HP, Patrick left to join a start-up in Houston. The company, byd:sign inc., is developing a brand of LCD and plasma flat panel televisions. Check it out at www.bydsign.com.

Kate and Mike Schoenle have again left their home in Michigan for an ex-patriot assignment. The Schoenles and their four children are now living in Monterrey, Mexico, where Mike continues his financial work in the automotive industry.

Scott and Sally Pofcher both recently changed jobs, but stayed put in San Francisco where they live with their two daughters, Nicole and Nina. Scott recently joined UBS Financial Services as part of a three-person wealth management team. Sally left McKinsey at the end of last year and joined the Gap as senior vice president of Gap strategy and business development.

Connie Walsh joined Staples in a newly formed brand management group.

In November I was very happy to catch up with Scott Peterson, who came through Boston for a weekend. While in town, he ran into Rick Schiffman and his wife Joy, who live in San Francisco, but were in town for a wedding. Scott is back in Minneapolis, but continues to travel all around the world. Last September, he paid a visit to Wade Stokes in Tallin, Estonia. While Scott knew that seeing Kalev Tanner (who lives very close to Wade) was a possibility, he was surprised to also run into Bill Brown, Jamie Freundlich and Brad Marks (‘97, brother of Will Marks)! Popular spot!

A few new additions to report: Milt and Kathy Miller Liu welcomed twins Theo and Walker on Nov. 1. They join “older” brother Jasper, who was 1 in October. Carlee Bilello and her husband Mike also added a third little boy to their family, with the arrival of Griffin in November. Congratulations to all!

That’s all for now. Keep the news coming ─ I’d love to hear from you.
