Steve Salera wrote to say, “Guys, I gave you all the news I had for your inaugural
issue. I will send something if I hear from anyone. Take
care.”
Julie Levitan shared an insightful comment: “You sure have a thankless job trying
to elicit a response from deadbeat grads like myself! I
guess I’ve fallen off the radar for many years, but
I have finally surfaced.” She added, “I keep
in touch with a few of the usual suspects (Sheryl, Gayle, Ilse and Zales,
especially), but have lost touch with most.
“I
am living in paradise, Napa Valley, where I work as the director and executive vice president
for Dominus Estate, a small winery that produces two Bordeaux-style
red wines. For those who knew me at Kellogg, this is the
perfect job for me. I love a career where drinking wine
on the job is actually a requirement!
“In
2002, I finally married Lee Broad (not a Kellogg grad)
following a nine-year engagement.
We bought a 100-year-old house in Napa, which is truly a money pit, but a great place to enjoy
a bottle of wine with friends. Stop by if you’re
in the valley. We love to share our corner of paradise
with visitors.”
Matt Amberson sent this: “Hi Guys. Matt and Molly Amberson are having a blast
with Lily (now 15 months) and living in Chicago. I run and own a company that specializes in equity option
trading software and consulting. Hope all is well.”
Doug Faude told
us, “It’s great to see the pix with all the
kids! Kellogg’s western kids should be wearing Molehill
Mountain Equipment, www.molehillmtn.com (Doug’s
business that he has run since graduation). I am closing
my stores in the Denver area and moving to Sandpoint, Idaho.” Doug also told us by phone that he and his family
are getting a phenomenal place with plenty of land, next
to a large lake.
John Funk writes
that he has recently taken a sabbatical from his latest
start-up, Quris, a digital marketing agency. His primary
goal is for his kids to recognize him and for the United
pilots to forget who he is. So he’s spending a lot
of time in his home state of Colorado skiing, playing tennis and reconnecting with old friends.
Funk recently re-connected with Casey Minton (bigshot,
corporate marketing muckety-muck at Wendy’s) and
swapped lots of stories about the intervening 12 years
since graduation. If anyone comes out to Colorado (or is planning to), let him know!
