President
Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo of the Philippines has appointed Cesar Purisima secretary of trade and
industry. Cesar is the chairman of the accounting firm of
Sycip, Gorres & Velayo, the largest accounting firm in
the country and the local partner of Ernst & Young. According
to presidential spokesman Ignacio Bunye, Cesar was chosen
for the role “because of his integrity, professional
competence and support to the development agenda of the Philippines.”

has appointed Bradley S. Schneider senior manager
in the firm’s strategic services practice. In his
new position, Bradley will help the firm’s clients
define their goals, develop business strategies and build
effective organizations appropriate to those strategies. |
