1950s

Wallace J. Gordon ‘50 is the author of Another Kind of Writer, 1946: The Ups and Downs and Starts and Stops of One Writer’s Beginnings, Wallace’s life story. The book details some of the highlights of his career, including service in the Army and a 40-year career writing ads and commercials for companies including Coca-Cola, Dodge and Betty Crocker.

Jerome S. Lamet ‘52 writes with news of his latest venture, the founding of Debt Counsel for Seniors and the Disabled (DCSD): “DCSD is a national legal service program designed to assist senior and disabled individuals with their debts and to educate clients about their legal rights under federal and state debtor laws.” See story, p. 50.

Kellogg World regrets to report that class representative Richard H. Vaaler ‘54 has passed away.

Kellogg is grateful for Mr. Vaaler’s service to the school’s alumni. He will be missed.

Those of you interested in assuming the leadership for the Class of ‘54 may contact the alumni office at 847.467.ALUM or email kellogg-alumni@northwestern.edu.

Bob Rexford ‘56 has retired after a career as a bond trader on Wall Street. He reports his main activities now are golf, travel and enjoying friendships.

Congratulations to Norman S. Edelcup ‘57, who became the mayor of Sunny Isles Beach, Fla., in October.

Mason Grigsby ‘59 writes from San Francisco that he “has co-authored a new book that may be of interest to many alumni.” Mason’s book is called Love at Second Sight ─ Playing the Mid-Life Dating Game (New Horizon Press), in which the author reveals what it actually means to start over and balance a past life with a new love relationship. It details the results of a 20-question survey of 400 single people over the age of 50, and includes more than 200 true-life stories about dating experiences. Mason writes that the book has been endorsed by John Gray, author of Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus.
