Adjunct Professor of Executive Education

Headshot of Kellogg faculty member Tiana Clark

Tiana is a sought-after speaker, panelist, and contributor for organizations such as The Tory Burch Foundation, Upwork, Amazon Web Services, The Urban League, Microsoft, and more. She's been featured in several publications, including The New York Times, and The Economist.
As a global corporate tech leader, she created her own positions at two Fortune Top 10 companies, including building Microsoft's first-ever and best-in-class U.S. Services Sales University. She also served on the Blacks at Microsoft Chicago leadership team.

She holds a Master of Science in Educational Leadership and Bachelor of Science in Political Science with a minor in African-American studies.
Tiana S. Clark grew up orphaned in the murder capital of the world and harnessed her innate power to manifest her trajectory. She has always had the audacity to make her own way, defy the odds, and follow her inner wisdom, and she empowers others to do the same.
She audaciously joined the military when people laughed at her and said she was too girly. As a former military intelligence sergeant, she's flown an F-15 fighter jet over England, briefed international generals at the Pentagon, led U.S. war target strategy, and won Airman of the Year - the most prestigious award.
As an at-risk public-school teacher, she empowered the 8th grader who "couldn't read and flunked twice" to step into his power as the smartest kid in the class.
As a mom of four—and with no prior filmmaking experience –she created and executive-produced a Hollywood-award-winning web series to teach children to be more confident and inclusive.

As a nonprofit founder, her organization received an award from Big Brothers Big Sisters for recruiting hundreds of mentors for their long waiting list of underserved youth.
Tiana currently serves on two school boards, K-8 & Higher Ed; is an Adjunct Professor of Executive Education at Northwestern University Kellogg Sales Institute; and is the founder of Audacious Academy, a career advisory program empowering corporate professionals of color to reclaim their greatness and own their careers with audacity.

Selling Yourself and Your Ideas (LDEVX-477-0)

It’s been said that humans are “meaning making machines.” More than 70,000 years ago, near the outset of the Cognitive Revolution, we created language to help protect and organizeourselves.1Over the ensuing millennia, we have developed myriad ways to communicate with each other. Present day, our communications take many forms, and so we find ourselves in conversations, meetings, presentations, and even as producers on social media. As business leaders, we move through these many forms of communication in the course of a week, and indeed we can even traverse each of them within one day. At no time in history have interpersonal communication skills been as important as they are today. In the Agrarian Age, a farmer who ploughed the field a little better than their neighbors could not acquire significantly more wealth. In the Industrial Age, a factory worker who assembled widgets a little faster than the person next to them could not acquire significantly more wealth. Today, anyone, anywhere in the world, who is a little better at expressing their ideas can see a sudden, massive increase in wealth that is unprecedented in human history. In the 21st-century knowledge economy, you are only as valuable as your ideas. Says Gallo, “The ability to convince others that your ideas matter is the single greatest skill that will give you a competitive edge at a time when the combined forces of globalization, automation, and artificial intelligence trigger a wave of anxiety across every profession in every country. In the next decade, your ideas-and the ability to articulate those ideas successfully-will count more than ever. Persuaders are irreplaceable." Selling Yourself & Your Ideas is a course that will force you out of your comfort zone to help you develop the knowledge, skills, and disciplines you need to be a powerful and influential communicator, no matter the situation in which you find yourself.
